After weeks of speculation and buildup, India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cricketer Rinku Singh officially got engaged to Samajwadi Party (SP)’s Member of Parliament, Priya Saroj.
The ceremony was organized at a five-star hotel in Lucknow. Several celebrities and politicians were present at the event, including SP National President Akhilesh Yadav, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla, actress and politician Jaya Bachchan, among others.

“May both of them enjoy a beautiful life, this is a wonderful match. Each excels in their own field, and together, they will make a strong and successful pair," Shukla was quoted as saying by the news agency PTI.
The wedding is scheduled for 18 November at the Taj Hotel in Varanasi.
Saroj is a law graduate from Amity University, Noida, and was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur district. She is the daughter of Toofani Saroj — who has served as a Member of Legislative Assembly from Kerakat in Jaunpur and as an MP representing Saidpur, Ghazipur, and Machhlishahr.
According to reports, Priya knew Rinku through a mutual friend whose father is a cricketer. Their initial acquaintance blossomed into friendship, and their relationship was supported by both families.
“Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other but needed their families’ consent for the relationship. Both families have agreed to this marriage," Tufani Saroj was earlier quoted as saying by PTI.
Rinku, 27, has played 2 ODIs and 33 T20Is for India in the last couple of years. He was KKR’s first retention for IPL 2025 and is considered one of the biggest prospects as a finisher in world cricket.

Ahead of the ceremony, the cricketer, along with his family, visited the Chaudhera Wali Vichitra Devi Temple in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, to seek blessings.
Not a part of India’s squads for the England Tests, he’ll likely be seen next in action in August.
