Joseph J. Joy
Joseph J. Joy, 76, a resident of Chautauqua Nursing & Rehab of Dunkirk, formerly of Fredonia, died Thursday, June 5, 2025 at his residence, following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s.
He was born in Versace, Italy on December 11, 1948, and adopted at the age of 3 by the late Carl and Nancy (Pizzalanti) Joy, through the assistance of Catholic Charities.
He was a graduate of Fredonia High School and worked as a Lead Inspector for the former Ethan Allen in Mayville, for 30 years. Joe then worked for Walmart in Fredonia as Head of Maintenance for over 10 years.
He was a member of the Westfield Moose Lodge #118 and Holy Trinity Church, Dunkirk. Joe was an avid golfer, Bills & Sabres fan and enjoyed making wine, doing carpentry & farming. Survivors include two sons; Richard Joy, of Fredonia and Joseph Joy, of Forestville. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Brandi & Rachel Pryll and two great-grandchildren Nevaeh Joy and Jameson Franklin.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a daughter Jeniffer Joy, who died May 24, 2023 and a grandson TJ Joy.
A Celebration of Life will be held in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Fredonia, at a later date. The family suggests memorials may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc., PO Box 61420, Staten Island, NY 10306.
