The Indiana Fever shocked the WNBA world in their most recent matchup.
Indiana defeated the New York Liberty 102-88, ending NY’s nine-game win streak to start the season. In Caitlin Clark’s return to the team, the Fever were dominant against the No. 1 ranked team in the league.
The Fever stands as the No. 3 team in the Eastern Conference standings and the No. 7 team in the WNBA standings. They hold a 5-5 record, having won three of their last four games.
As the Fever continue to gain momentum, they suffered a hit to their roster.
On Monday, DeWanna Bonner was ruled out of the team’s next matchup against the Connecticut Sun due to “personal reasons,” per Scott Agness.
Bonner will be missing her second straight game for the Fever after being ruled out against the New York Liberty.
The addition of DeWanna Bonner in the offseason has proven to be an incredible asset for Indiana. Bonner made the move to the Fever after spending some time with the Connecticut Sun, where she continued to establish herself as one of the best players in WNBA history.
In her first season with the Fever, the No. 3 scorer in WNBA history, has posted 7.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
While head coach Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever will certainly miss the contributions of DeWanna Bonner, they got their lead guard back.
Caitlin Clark made her return to the lineup after missing five straight games for the Fever due to injury.
In her first game back with the Fever, Clark posted 32 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
