Laval Rocket forward Brandon Gignac has signed a two-year deal in Switzerland with EHC Kloten, it was announced late last week.
Gignac, a 2016 third-round pick of the New Jersey Devils, spent the entire 2024-25 season with the Rocket, scoring two goals and adding four assists for six points in 15 regular season games. With Laval going on a run in the playoffs, Gignac contributed one goal and three points in 12 games.
Since turning pro at the end of the 2016-17 season, Gignac has appeared in eight career NHL games with the Devils and the Montreal Canadiens, collecting one goal. Prior to joining the Devils organization, Gignac spent parts of four seasons with the QMJHL's Shawinigan Cataractes.
As Gignac makes his way overseas for the first time in his career, he should find his footing quickly in the NL (Switzerland's top-tier league). Although he didn't get into a lot of games in 2024-25, Gignac has produced at close to a point per game in the AHL before and will likely be a difference maker in Switzerland.
