Chicago Sky Announce News After Eighth Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Chicago Sky dropped their eighth game of the season with a 79-72 loss to the Washington Mystics on Tuesday, squandering a 12-point halftime lead and getting outplayed in the third quarter. Brittney Sykes exploded for a season-high 32 points to lead Washington’s comeback, and the Mystics outscored Chicago 24-12 in the pivotal middle frame.
Star forwards Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso continued their strong play—each recording double-doubles. Reese posted 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Cardoso added 18 points and 10 boards. However, Chicago’s offense unraveled under pressure, coughing up 25 turnovers (leading to 40 Mystic points) and shooting just 30% from deep.
The late-game rally fell short despite solid individual glimpses.
While it has been a rough season for Chicago on the court, the team continues making moves off it. Following Wednesday’s loss, the Sky announced a new partnership with sports betting giant Bet365.
Via X, they shared their excitement for this new partnership, while urging fans to bet responsibly.
“Welcome to Skytown @bet365,” the Sky wrote. “Just teamed up with one of the top sports betting brands to bring a little more fun to gameday! Please bet responsibly.”
Speaking of the collaboration, a spokesperson for Bet365 said, “Our partnership with the Chicago Sky has us floating on cloud nine and is the perfect opportunity for our expansion into the WNBA … We can’t wait to share our Never Ordinary betting experience with Sky fans.”
This partnership is set to bring a number of benefits for both parties: Bet365 gains high-profile WNBA exposure, while the Sky stand to enhance fan engagement through promotions and in-game experiences.
Chicago will now shift its focus to Friday’s rematch against the Mystics at home on Friday, and hope to bounce back to winning ways.
