    District 8 tournaments begin today – theintermountain.com

    HUTTONSVILLE — District 8 Little League All-Star action gets underway this evening at Tygart Valley Field.
    Both the 10-12-year-old and 8-10 tournaments are taking place, with the champion and runner-up from both age groups moving on to state play.
    Participating in the 10-12-year-old tournament will be Elkins, Tygart Valley, Belington, Tucker County, Pocahontas County, Braxton County and Summersville.
    Elkins, Tygart Valley, Belington, Tucker County and Braxton County will field teams in the 8-10-year-old tourney.
    Elkins will host the 10-12-year-old state tournament, slated to run from July 11-17 at Melvin Heckel Fields at Riverbend Park.
    Teams report on July 11 and action starts the following day.
    The 8-10-year-old tournament will begin July 4 in Huntington.
    Games on tap for today in the 10-12-year-old tournament include Tygart Valley vs. Braxton County at 6:30 p.m., Summersville vs. Belington at 8 p.m. and Pocahontas County vs. Tucker County at 8:30 p.m.
    Elkins has a bye and faces the winner between Tygart Valley and Braxton County at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
    Games will be through Sunday and resume next Friday and Saturday to determine the champion and runner-up.
    One game is slated for today in the 8-10-year-old tourney, with Elkins battling Tucker County at 6 p.m.
