    Cricket PNG has extended its profound gratitude to all partners and participants following the successful conclusion of the inaugural PacificAus Sports Cricket Invitational 2025, held recently in Port Moresby. The international tournament, hosted by Cricket PNG, showcased a strong spirit of unity and a shared passion for cricket across the Pacific.
    Cricket PNG specifically acknowledged the vital support from the Australian Government, Cricket Australia, the Australian High Commission, and His Excellency Mr. Ewen McDonald, Australia’s High Commissioner to PNG and Special Envoy to the Pacific and Regional Affairs, alongside PacificAus Sports.
    “The first of its kind, the PacificAus Sports Cricket Invitational 2025 showcased what can be achieved through strong partnership, support, and collaboration,” stated Cricket PNG Chairman Michael Harrison. “The tournament stands as proof of the unity and shared passion for cricket in the Pacific, and we look forward to building on this success in future tournaments and events.”
    Mr. Harrison also expressed sincere thanks to the participating countries: the Australia Indigenous Team, Samoa, and Vanuatu, commending their enthusiastic involvement and commitment. He acknowledged the tireless efforts of their team managers, coaches, and supporting organizations, including Cricket Samoa and Vanuatu Cricket, whose collaboration was instrumental.
    The tournament was made possible through the generous support of a wide array of major sponsors and supporting partners, including Capital Insurance, Steel Industries, MJ Electrical, Dulux, Pure water, Boroko Motors, Brian Bell, Pacific International Hospital, Digicel, Royal Papua Yacht Club, Black Swan Security Services, Bishop Brothers, PNG Motors, BOC Gases, Guard Dog Security Services, Queensland Cricket, Business for Health PNG, Olympic Committee, and Business Coalition for Women.
    Cricket PNG also extended a special thank you to the extensive list of media organizations for their crucial coverage, both locally and internationally, for amplifying the event.
    During the trophy presentation and closing ceremony on Saturday, June 21st, Mr. Harrison addressed the teams, saying, “I hope you have enjoyed your time in Port Moresby PNG and the hospitality shown, as the Governor for the National Capital District Hon. Powes Parkop will say, ‘Amazing Port Moresby.’ It was great to see you enjoy yourselves at the Australia High Commission reception on Wednesday hosted by His Excellency Mr McDonald. I wish you all the best in your future success as teams and ambassadors of your respective countries.”
    The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including the Australia Acting High Commissioner to PNG, His Excellency Mr. Adrian Lochrin; the Patron of Cricket PNG, Chairman of the Motu Koita Assembly, Hon. Dadi Toka Junior; PNG Olympic Committee President, Ms. Emma Waiwai; and Cricket Australia’s Mr. Brett Wood.
    Mr. Wood offered encouraging and congratulatory remarks, commending the Australian Government, the Australia High Commission, PacificAus Sports, and Cricket PNG for their support. “It is such a great initiative, it gives us great honor to be part of this tournament to support and make it a success. The unity and support seen by all teams proves the success,” he added, before announcing the champions.
    Congratulations were extended to the participating teams, Samoa, Vanuatu, and the Australia Indigenous Team, with special recognition to the champions of this year’s PacificAus Sports Cricket Invitational: the PNG Lewas.
    Finally, Cricket PNG conveyed its deep appreciation to the tournament match officials, operations team, umpires, grounds crew, security personnel, commentators, scorers, catering and hospitality staff, and every individual, cricket fan, and community member who contributed to making the PacificAus Sports Cricket Invitational 2025 a truly memorable event for all involved.
