After a dry opening day, rain has become a recurring theme in the first Test between India and England at Headingley, Leeds. Despite the weather interruptions, both teams have managed to put on an entertaining battle over the past three days. Let’s check the weather report for the IND vs ENG 1st Test Day 4 here.
India posted a formidable 471 in their first innings, led by a brilliant century from Yashasvi Jaiswal, followed by tons from captain Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. On the second day, after India’s innings, rain poured at Headingly delaying England’s start.
The Three Lions started cautiously after Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Zak Crawley for just 4, but then Ben Duckett’s half-century helped stabilise their innings. Ollie Pope stole the show with a fine century (106), while Harry Brook anchored the innings into Day 3, narrowly missing out on a ton as he fell for 99.
England managed 465 in their first innings, just six runs behind India. By stumps on Day 3, India were 90/2 in their second innings, with Shoaib Bashir troubling Shubman Gill before rain forced an abrupt end to proceedings. The umpires called it stumps just before 18:00 BST as the rain got heavier, leaving the game perfectly balanced as it awaits Day 4 proceedings in Leeds. .
The much-anticipated five-match Test series has already delivered drama, with debutant Sai Sudharsan experiencing the highs and lows of Test cricket–dismissed for a duck in the first innings and scoring 30 in the second, both times falling to England captain Ben Stokes.
Day 4 will begin with India under pressure, and the first 45 minutes could prove really important in shaping the outcome of this closely fought Test match. With overcast skies and a pitch still offering bounce, a solid opening stand is what India need to favour the tides.

At present, it is 8:23 AM GMT in Leeds and the skies are overcast, with rain expected to pour in the next five minutes in some spots, according to AccuWeather. The day’s play is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM, and conditions are forecast to improve by the afternoon with only a 3% chance of precipitation. However, the evening could see a passing shower, with rain chances rising to 40%. Temperatures are expected to hover around 17–18°C throughout the day.
