After spending close to a decade with the Mumbai cricket team, Prithvi Shaw is all set to leave the state team. The young opener has formally asked for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) so he can move on and represent a new team in Indian domestic cricket.
It’s a big decision from the 25-year-old, who has had a mixed run with Mumbai in recent seasons. From early highs to later struggles with form and fitness, Shaw now feels it’s time for a new start elsewhere.

In his letter to the MCA, Shaw informed the board that he has been offered a fresh opportunity to represent another state association in Indian domestic.
“At this juncture in my career, I have been presented with a promising opportunity to play professional cricket under another State Association, which I believe will further contribute to my growth and development as a cricketer,” Shaw wrote.
“In light of this, I kindly request you to issue me a No Objection Certificate (NOC) that will enable me to officially represent the new State Association in the upcoming domestic season,” he added.

He was full of gratitude and thanked the Mumbai board for giving him chances, support, and the experience over the years. But now, he’s ready for a change and wants to explore new ground.
“I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for the valuable opportunities and unwavering support extended to me during my time representing the association.”
“It has truly been an honour and a privilege to be part of the MCA setup and I am deeply grateful for the exposure and experience I have gained here,” Shaw wrote further.

Things haven’t been smooth for him lately. Shaw was dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad last year, with concerns raised about his fitness and attitude.
Although he made a return later in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he was once again left out of the Vijay Hazare squad.
His last outing for Mumbai was in the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in December 2024, where they beat Madhya Pradesh.
