The White Ferns have not beaten Australia in a bilateral ODI series since 1999, while their most recent victory over the trans-Tasman rivals was back in 2017.
New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine has won the toss and chosen to bowl first with Australian captain Alyssa Healy returning to the side following her Big Bash injury.
The first ball is scheduled for 9am AEDT.
