LEXINGTON, N.C. — Last month, Davidson County Commissioners voted to approve the base proposal for the design of the new sports complex set for construction in the Southmont area of Lexington.
On June 17, Commissioners voted 5-1 to approve the initial plan, which will cost approximately $4.1 million. Matt Mizell was the only Commissioner to vote against the proposal. Documents say that the base proposal features four main elements:
Back in March, County Commissioners approved a plan to earmark $65 million in funding for the sports complex, which will be built on a 350-acre space behind Southmont Elementary School.
Over the past few months, Davidson County residents have voiced concern over the project.
