Prasidh Krishna endured yet another expensive spell against England, this time wicketless, in the first English innings of the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The Indian speedster sent down 13 overs in the innings, and conceded 72 runs at an expensive economy rate of 5.53.
As Prasidh Krishna continues to find himself at the centre of some sharp criticism from fans and Indian experts, his dreadful outing with the ball has even prompted Iceland Cricket to take a cheeky dig at him on social media.
On Friday, July 4, i.e., amid Prasidh Krishna’s struggling bowling performance against England in the second Test in Birmingham, Iceland Cricket took a cheeky dig at the Indian speedster on social media, comparing his soaring economy rate to the high cost of living in their country.
With no stakes in the game, the Iceland Cricket wrote:
“People say it’s expensive in Iceland, but have they seen the economy rate of Prasidh Krishna?”
Prasidh Krishna also conceded runs at more than six-an-over across both innings of the series-opening first Test against England at Headingley last week. Sending down 35 overs in the match, Krishna conceded 220 runs, but managed to pick up five wickets in the process.
His wicketless spell in Birmingham, however, put additional pressure on Mohammed Siraj and comeback man Akash Deep in restricting the Englishmen after Harry Brook’s record 303-run partnership with Jamie Smith.
Mohammed Siraj picked up figures of 6-70 to shoot out England for 407 in their first innings. Emboldened with a 180-run lead, Team India reached 64-1 from 13 overs by stumps on Day 3, with KL Rahul and Karun Nair still batting at the crease.
