Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Record-Breaking Hundred Hands India Unassailable Series Win – News18

Star India cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s outstanding performance continued to elevate his status, as he smashed the fastest Youth ODI hundred, leading India U19 to a series-clinching 55-run win against England.
India now hold an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
Suryavanshi, who had a brilliant IPL 2025, showed his skills in the ODIs as well, scoring 143 off just 79 deliveries at an impressive strike rate of 183, including 13 boundaries and 10 sixes.
India posted a total of 363/9 in 50 overs and then restricted the England colts to 308 in the 46th over. Naman Pushpak took 3/63.
The day belonged to the 14-year-old Suryavanshi, who broke the record for the fastest Youth ODI hundred, held by Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam, who had reached the milestone in 53 balls against England in 2013.
Until now, Raj Angad Bawa’s 69-ball hundred against Uganda at the U19 World Cup three years back was the fastest hundred by an Indian in Youth ODIs.
Suryavanshi achieved his 100 in just 52 deliveries, making him the youngest batter to reach his milestone in youth cricket.
Suryavanshi was 14 years and 100 days old when he scored his hundred, going past Bangladesh’s Najmul Hossain Shanto, who reached the three-figure mark at 14 years and 241 days.
This achievement is a continuation of Suryavanshi’s brilliant career, having become the youngest batter to score a hundred in the Indian Premier League, doing so in just 35 deliveries for the Rajasthan Royals against the Gujarat Titans.
Suryavanshi recorded the second-fastest hundred in men’s Youth Tests against Australia U19 in Chennai in 2024. He reached the hundred in just 58 deliveries, second only to former England allrounder Moeen Ali, who smacked a 56-ball hundred 20 years ago.
Suryavanshi’s latest feat earned high praise from Bihar Cricket Association president Rakesh Tiwari.
“This is a moment of immense pride for Bihar. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has not only brought glory to the state but has also made the entire nation proud. Achieving such a milestone at such a young age is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and mental strength," Tiwari said.

He added that Suryavanshi is on his way to breaking several other records.
“This is just the beginning. Vaibhav’s century is the first of many records yet to be broken. With his talent and determination, we believe he will continue to rewrite the history of cricket in the years to come," Tiwari said.
