Indiana Fever Star Responds to Kelsey Mitchell News After WNBA Reveal originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Indiana Fever veteran guard Kelsey Mitchell was named to her third consecutive WNBA All-Star game earlier this week.
Following the announcement, her teammate Natasha Howard showed love for Mitchell on Sunday. “Congratulations, my dawg 💙,” Howard wrote on Instagram.
Mitchell’s All-Star selection came as she’s averaging 19.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 0.9 steals in 18 games. Meanwhile, Howard has been averaging 11.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.9 steals also in 18 games despite not making this year’s All-Star team.
However, she was named to the 2019 and 2022 All-Star games. Howard’s teammate Caitlin Clark was selected as captain for this year’s game, and will make her second consecutive appearance.
Meanwhile, the Fever are currently 9-9 after losing to the Los Angeles Sparks, 89-87, on Saturday. Mitchell scored 19 points while Howard had 21 points against the Sparks.
However, their efforts were not enough to overcome the Sparks, led by forward Azura Stevens, who scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Meanwhile, All-Star Guard Kelsey Plum had 20 points, while forward Dearica Hamby ended with 18 points against Indiana.
Fever’s star guard Clark has been sidelined for the past five games with a groin injury. She is slowly working on returning to the court, but she still needs time, according to Fever head coach Stephanie White.
The Fever’s next game is on Wednesday against the Golden State Valkyries at 12 p.m. ET.
