Rishabh Pant has played well, great partnership with KL Rahul and getting India back into this game and bat the whole day today. But I can't believe we haven't seen a bit of spin. Just seeing a constant bumper barrage.

If Shoaib Bashir isn’t right for this situation he shouldn’t be in the team.

How can a frontline spinner only have bowled six overs to now? Shows you what they really think of Bashir – poor selection.

KL Rahul has hit six fours in 19 balls from Brydon Carse's current spell.
KL Rahul closes Brydon Carse's over by driving well through point for four.
    He moves to 89.

No wicketkeeper has made five Test centuries in England. Rishabh Pant has four and is tied with Matt Prior and Alec Stewart.
    Ind 215-3
Of course he does it with a six.
Rishabh Pant brings up his half century with a mighty hook, sending Ben Stokes' last delivery flying over the ropes.
It comes off 86 deliveries, and all with an injured hand.
Ben Stokes starts with a wide, sending the ball over Rishabh Pant's head, and that brings up India's 200.
The India wicketkeeper then calls on the physio after an attempted pull shot, his injured finger needs more attention.

They can change the ball as much as they want. The fact is this bowling attack just isn’t good enough.
    Sam, Malvern
I don’t understand why they could not do the ball change during the drinks break. Why are they also selecting a ball from a set that was already rejected. The umpires need to gain some control on this game.

England pacers have got just 0.40° of swing on average this morning, which is the lowest in the first session of a day in this series.

22 overs to go until the second new ball, this is when you need your spinners. If England to win the Test, they need 17 wickets and can't imagine all 17 falling to the seamers. You need your spinners.
KL Rahul picks up his 11th four, lashing Brydon Carse over mid-off for four.
He moves to 83, with 40 minutes to go until lunch.
Ben Stokes replaces Chris Woakes as we resume after the break.
Three singles off the over, the last of which, a KL Rahul shot through point, brings up India's 200.

India are getting themselves into the position where they can bat the day out. If they bat really well, they'll be thinking can they bat until lunchtime tomorrow. All of a sudden, the third innings for England becomes very crucial and tricky.
The players have taken drinks, with the umpires taking a look at some balls during the break.
They don't actually change the ball, but I suppose it's good to be prepared.
Meanwhile here's WinViz, with India closing the gap on England.

We regard the third day as moving day and India will be looking to bat the day out especially with the new ball available to England in less than 25 overs. If they can bat the day out, then they will be ahead in this Test.

In this series, KL Rahul has attacked 52% of the fuller deliveries with a strike rate of 103 – his highest. In comparison, he has attacked only 8% of good length balls. His next highest is against short balls at 39%, followed by 15% against back of a length deliveries.
Brydon Carse tightens it up after conceding 22 runs from his first two overs.
He sends down a maiden to Rishabh Pant.

Such poor bowling from Carse, unable to bowl to a field.
    Alistair, Cambridge
Get Stokes and Bashir on. Nothing is happening and they are going through the motions until the new ball. The game is slipping away unless they get a wicket. Like 211-5 at Edgbaston…

I don’t understand the complaining about the pace of the game. Test cricket is much more entertaining now than ever. The drinks and glove changes by batters is a bit OTT but with DRS adding in expecting 90 overs in a day is unrealistic. Start at 10:30 if you want more cricket, don’t rush the game.

I was having a chat with Yashasvi Jaiswal – when you go in the nets and you face the red ball, you have the urge to play the big shots because you are always working on your big shots but now you have to work on your defence. That's the mentality change for players when they switch from the shortest format of the game to the longest.
