    Warren tops Williamstown boys on day one of Clash – Parkersburg News

    VINCENT — Chase Lupardus has been on a tear in the paint for the Warren Warriors.
    Friday night against Williamstown in the Clash at the Coliseum, Lupardus finished with game-highs of 23 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double to lead Warren to a 67-46 victory.
    Lupardus, who was 10 for 11 from the floor, also tallied a team-high five assists.
    Warren (4-1) never trailed in the game but had its lead cut to 12-10 in the first quarter on Wyatt Powell’s jumper. However, with five seconds left in the period, Julian Stadelman knocked down a 3-pointer to stretch the Warriors’ lead to five. A third-team All-Ohioan last year, Stadelman finished with 18 points and four dimes
    Warren led 25-19 at halftime, but Stadelman opened the third period with a pair of treys sandwiched around a layup by Connor Barry to put the home team up 14, 33-19.

    Williamstown (2-1) was unable to get within striking distance as Warren continued to attack inside. Lupardus’s three-point play with 4:36 left in the contest put the Warriors up 20, 55-35.
    Nick Cressey added 12 points, five rebounds and four assists for Warren. Colin Anthony chipped in three steals.
    Williamstown, which was plagued by a 3-point shooting slump, was led by Jayden Bryant’s 14 points. Parker Schramm added 13 points and three steals while Cruz Isaly had a game-high six assists.
    The Yellowjackets went just 4 for 19 from beyond the arc in the game.
    Lupardus and Bryant were selected as the players of the game.
    Waverly 64, Eastern 57
    Waverly, which led by 16 points going into the fourth quarter Friday against Eastern, nearly saw its lead slip away.
    The Eagles rallied to get within one late in the fourth, but the Tigers held on for a 64-57 victory.
    Landon Russell was selected as the player of the game for Waverly, while Gavin Murphy took the honor for Eastern.
    GIRLS
    Federal Hocking 68, Warren 35

    Federal Hocking’s defense caused fits for Warren all night Friday in a 68-35 victory for the Lancers.
    The Warriors, who got 11 points and six rebounds from Mackenzie James-McGuire, committed 30 turnovers in the game. The Lancers finished with 19 steals as a team — nine coming from Brenlee Cottrill.
    Cottrill had an all-around game, leading the team in steals, points (19) and assists (seven) while grabbing six boards as well.
    Warren led 2-0 early on a basket by James-McGuire, but Federal Hocking scored the next 14 points and never looked back.
    Jaylee Orsborne added 12 points for the Lancers while Mckayla Nelson and Audry Clingenpeel netted nine apiece. Orsborne grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
    FHHS (7-2) knocked down 10 3-pointers in the contest while Warren was 0 for 5 from beyond the arc.
    Sarah Pettey added seven points and six boards for the Warriors, who dropped to 5-3 on the year.
    Cottrill and James-McGuire were selected as the players of the game.
    Williamstown 66, Eastern 33
    After a sloppy first quarter, Williamstown turned things up a notch in the second and third quarters to pull away for a 66-33 victory over Eastern Friday.
    Faith Pickens, who had game-highs of 28 points and nine rebounds, scored 12 of the Yellowjackets’ 16 first-quarter points.
    A 3-pointer by Braelyn Simpson, who led the Eagles with 17 points and eight boards, knocked down a 3-pointer at the 6:04 mark in the second quarter to cut it to 18-15.
    Quinn Bunch, who was scoreless to that point, knocked down three straight 3-pointers as part of her 11-point second quarter to give the ‘Jackets some separation. They led 37-17 by halftime and outscored the Eagles 26-9 in the third to trigger a running clock in the fourth quarter.
    Bunch finished with 12 points and six steals for Williamstown, which improved to 5-0 on the year. Arissa Burt had a monster game for WHS, finishing with 16 points, seven boards, five dimes and seven steals.
    For Eastern (1-8), McKenzie Robertson knocked down three treys to score nine points.
    Pickens and Simpson were selected as the players of the game.
