Transfer news LIVE!
The madness of this summer’s transfer window continues, with Premier League clubs left, right, and centre willing to spend big in a pursuit for success this season. Arsenal, who finished second in the division last term, have just landed Viktor Gyokeres for an initial £64million, and he has been given Thierry Henry’s iconic No14 shirt number as he settles in to his new surroundings in north London. Now, Mikel Arteta wants to continue his lavish spending spree, targeting Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.
As for Arsenal’s north London rivals, Tottenham were dealt a serious blow late on Saturday when Morgan Gibbs-White did a stunning U-turn to sign a new contract at Nottingham Forest, having previously agreed on a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs are also interested in Joao Palhinha, who has been a target for Manchester United in the past. Ruben Amorim’s side are in the market for a striker, considering the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Nicolas Jackson and Ollie Watkins.
Also on the striker market is Alexander Isak – who wants to leave Newcastle – and Liverpool are circling, preparing a massive bid to add the Swede to striking ranks that already contain Hugo Ekitike. The sale of Luis Diaz is set to boost that pursuit. Chelsea are focusing on deals for two Dutchmen – RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and Ajax’s Jorrel Hato. Luis Diaz will soon become a Bayern Munich player, with a medical expected to take place next week.
The winger has told Liverpool he wants to leave this summer and he is set to get his wish.
Sky Germany report that a £65m fee has been agreed between the two clubs, with Diaz now ready to sign a four-year contract and undergo a medical.
Chelsea are making progress in their attempts to sign Xavi Simons.
Ben Jacobs reports that terms are largely agreed now, with the Blues set to make a first official bid after discussions with RB Leipzig.
Arsenal and Bayern Munich are also said to be keeping tabs on the situation, but it is Chelsea who are the only club in serious negotiations.
Chelsea remain in talks with Ajax over a move for Jorrel Hato.
The defender is keen to make the move to Stamford Bridge and the Blues are pushing to wrap up a deal for the 19-year-old.
However, there remains a gap between what Ajax are asking for and what Chelsea are currently willing to pay.
Sky Sports report that the Blues are ready to offer £44m, still short of the £52m asking price.
Viktor Gyokeres is in attendance in Singapore as Arsenal face Newcastle this afternoon.
Here’s a video of the Gunners’ new striker arriving at the stadium.
He was on the pitch ahead of kick-off waving to the fans, but Gyokeres won’t be making his debut against the Magpies.
Joao Felix is on the verge of joining Al-Nassr.
Chelsea have been looking to sell the forward this summer and they are set to get their wish.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Felix has been given the green light to fly out for his medical, after a fee of around £26m plus add-ons was agreed between the two clubs.
There is also a significant sell-on clause included which it is claimed could help push the fee towards the £43m valuation Chelsea had put on Felix.
David Moyes has said he needs Everton to sign five or six new players before the start of the new season.
The Scot, who oversaw his side’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth in their opening game of their pre-season tour, has signed Thierno Barry, Charly Alcaraz, and Mark Travers so far this summer.
“Well, we’ve signed three, so if you take that off, we’re still in the need of maybe five or six players,” Moyes said.
“That’s what we have to try and do.
“It’s one of those times, I’ve never had one of these. In the past I have had to sign a lot of players, but I’ve never had to do so many in one window.
“We’re trying really hard behind the scenes to get things done. We’re going to need it.”
Bayern Munich are advancing on a deal to sign Luis Diaz.
The Bundesliga side saw a £58.5million bid knocked back by the Premier League champions but are thought to be offering £69m this time around in an attempt to land the Colombian.
Sky Sports report that the final details are being discussed, with Diaz wanting to make the switch to Germany.
That sale would be a major boost for Liverpool’s plans to sign Alexander Isak.
Chelsea are always linked with bringing players in at Stamford Bridge, but, for PSR’s sake, they also need to sell and trim down their sizable squad.
But who could leave this summer? Sky Sports report that Christopher Nkunku could depart, while Joao Felix nears the exit door. Raheem Sterling is another that does not have a future at the Bridge, while Renato Veiga is angling for a switch to Atletico Madrid.
Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi were shipped out on loan last term and could push for permanent exits this time around, while Chelsea want to sell Carney Chukwuemeka, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund. RB Leipzig are interested in him.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hal also could move on, with Fulham interested.
David Moyes has confirmed that Everton are in the hunt for Bayern Munich defender Adam Aznou.
The left-back is on the Scot’s shortlist as he looks to rehaul his squad before the start of the new season.
“We have made an offer,” said Moyes after a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth.
“Whether it’s accepted and whether it’s all done… but he’s a young player. It’s someone we see as having a good future and good potential.”
Paris Saint-Germain are nearing a deal for Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier.
The Ligue 1 champions are on red alert for a goalkeeper with contract negotiations for Gianluigi Donnarumma stalling, according to L’Equipe.
The French outlet claims that Paris are about to agree a fee worth €40million for Chevalier, 23, to potentially replace the Italy international should he depart.
