The Gunners hope Viktor Gyokeres will debut in today’s friendly against Tottenham and are now said to have agreed personal terms with Eberechi Eze, for whom they remain in talks. There could be also be more movement on the horizon at the Emirates with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Reiss Nelson, and Oleksandr Zinchenko tipped to depart, with the latter pair drawing interest from Fulham.
Liverpool are believed to be preparing a likely British transfer record offer to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle and have reportedly agreed a six-year deal in principle with the Swedish striker. The sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, which was confirmed on Wednesday, will help the Reds’ put together the financial makeweight required for the bid.
Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their attempts to sign a new striker, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko said to prefer a move to Old Trafford over St James’ Park. Elsewhere, Tottenham must now look for a Morgan Gibbs-White alternative after the midfielder penned a new contract at Nottingham Forest. Ruben Amorim has urged United fans to look beyond Rasmus Hojlund’s goalscoring figures.
United are in talks to sign Benjamin Sesko, which would likely knock the Dane down the striker pecking order at Old Trafford.
Of Hojlund, Ruben Amorim said: “The important thing is that people focus on the goals and we suffer a lot because of the lack of goals. But I think not just the goals, but the way he (Hojlund) connects the play.
“Every time we have to kick the ball, we are kicking the ball when we are more pressed. The ability for him to hold the defender and to connect in the support is helping us a lot to play better. And we are playing better because he is playing better.
“I am really happy with Rasmus. I don’t know what is going to happen until the end of the market. The important thing is that the strikers that are here are working really well, are improving, are helping the team and that is the most important thing.”
Newcastle’s Saudi owners have reportedly blocked Alexander Isak’s attempts to leave the club.
