Samuel David Harrah passed away peacefully at home on September 11th, 2025, surrounded by his family after a hard battle with bladder cancer. Up until the end Sam maintained his kindness, positivity, compassion, appreciation of life, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for his long life.
Samuel David Harrah was born on August 28th, 1957, to James Thomas Harrah and Shirley Mae Harrah (Anderson) in Brainerd, Mn. He was the middle child of three and traveled around the country with his family and father, who was a career Army man. Sam lettered in several sports in High School and loved the outdoors! After he graduated high school in 1977, he went to vocational college to get a degree in Recreational sales. Some may remember him from the 27 years he worked at Pamida or the 15 plus years at Walmart. He was kind to everyone he encountered and made a lasting impact. He was a member of the Eagles’s Club and a Past President. He married his long-time love Susan Caird and together they had 2 children, Kayla Ann Rose Harrah and Samuel James Harrah.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents James Thomas Harrah and Shirley Mae Harrah (Anderson) along with his brother James Byron Harrah all of Brainerd, Mn. He is survived by his wife Susan Harrah (Caird) and his children Kayla Harrah and Samuel Harrah of Brainerd, his sister Johanna Behr (Harrah), his nieces Brianna Behr and Krista Behr all from Colorado. He is also survived by his 2 stepchildren from his first marriage, Walter Woolsey of Crosby and Shanna Woolsey Coil of Madelia.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, October 5th at the Country Inn & Suites of Baxter from 2-5pm.
