Kade Black
LOCK HAVEN — After scoring five goals last week, Lock Haven men’s soccer midfielder Kade Black, an Altoona Area High School graduate, was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Black’s award marked the fourth PSAC West Weekly Honor this season and the second on the offensive side of the ball.
Black had a four-goal game against Pitt-Johnstown, which entered the game with the best record in the conference. Black tied a 24-year-old record at Lock Haven for the most goals in a game.
Lock Haven downed the Mountain Cats, 7-0, and Black’s goals (four) and points (eight) are the most in a single game in the PSAC this season.
Black also scored the lone goal in a 1-1 tie against current No. 1 seed Gannon.
Black is a junior at Lock Haven majoring in Health Science.

– Penn State Altoona junior Mya Torres was announced as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week in women’s soccer on Monday afternoon. In last Wednesday’s game against Mount Aloysius, Torres kept a clean sheet and made three saves as the Lions tied the Mounties 0-0. Against Pitt Bradford, Torres kept another clean sheet, making four saves to help the Lions beat the Bobcats 2-0.
– The Penn State Altoona women’s cross country team picked up another Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference runner of the week award this season, as senior Victoria Scutti was named the league’s Women’s Runner of the Week on Monday afternoon. Scutti was the Lions’ top finisher in their Saturday 5K race at the CMU Invitational. Scutti clocked a time of 18:56.3 to come in 52nd place out of 183 individual runners.
– Washington & Jefferson freshman Bella Graham, an Altoona graduate, was selected to the Presidents Athletic Conference’s tennis honor roll.
– Pitt’s Olivia Babcock earned her third ACC Offensive Player of the Week award of the season on Monday, announced by the conference office. The reigning AVCA National Player of the Year averaged a conference best 6.94 points per set, 6.00 kills per set, a team-high 3.13 digs per set and 1.38 blocks per set while hitting .455 this past weekend.
