Dave ShyiakMARQUETTE — Fans are encouraged to reserve their seats for the first Blue Line Luncheon of the hockey season at Northern Michigan University.
The luncheon is Friday afternoon at the Ramada Inn of Marquette on West Washington Street, and seating is limited. The Wildcats play their home opener later that day at 7:07 p.m. against No. 21 Colorado College at the Berry Events Center.
Advance ticket purchases for the luncheon can be made at the NMU Tickets website, tickets.nmu.edu, or by calling the Superior Dome ticket office at 906-227-1032 or visiting there in person. Cost is $25 per person that includes lunch and the program at the Slabz Bar and Grill.
Doors open at 11:45 a.m., with lunch to be served promptly at noon and the program commencing at 12:15 p.m.
Featured speakers are scheduled to be Wildcats head coach Dave Shyiak, NMU athletic director Rick Comley and several Northern hockey players.
It should be interesting to hear Shyiak, who played on the 1991 NMU national championship team, and Comley, who was that team’s head coach. Shyiak has just started his second season at Wildcats’ head hockey coach.
There is only one other scheduled Blue Line Luncheon this season, on Friday, Jan. 9, before a series against newest CCHA member Augustana.
For information on and website links to the Slabz restaurant and the menu that day, visit the NMU athletics website at nmuwildcats.com and look under hockey news for the item about the luncheon.
