Yes, there was a hint of grip and turn, but it was gentle and manageable for the batters. The Proteas will be eager to see the back of Shan Masood, who has held firm at one end, as they look to chip away at the wickets. A better session for South Africa, but their woes in the field have continued. As the tourists began the session with pace from both ends, Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique started cautiously. Even when the spinners were introduced, Masood, who had taken the aerial route in the first session, chose to dial it down in the afternoon. Both batters brought up their fifties, with Shafique enjoying plenty of fortune along the way. Having already been dropped twice in the morning, he was put down again on 41, and a stumping chance went begging soon after he reached his half-century, before he was eventually dismissed.
