After suffering a great defeat at the hands of hosts Bangladesh, mainly due to the spin attack of the side, West Indies called on a T20 specialist spinner, Akeal Hosein, to try and aid the other spinners who were already there.
"Akeal is expected to arrive tonight to join the ODI team,” Cricbuzz quoted a BCB source as saying ahead of the second meeting between the two teams in the three-match series.
Hosein has played only 38 ODIs since making his debut in the format way back in 2021 with his last ODI coming in 2023. On the other hand, he has played 81 T20Is with the latest being in 2025 itself.
Apart from Hosein, Ramon Simmonds, a pace bowler, was also called-up as the two replaced Jediah Blades and Shamar Joseph respectively, who were sent back home.
Bangladesh too made a change to their side as they added left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed to the squad.
Both teams have stacked up their spin attack mainly because, in the first game, Bangladesh defended 207 and bowled West Indies out for 133 with their three spinners i.e. Rishad Hossain (6/35), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (1/16) and Tanvir Islam (1/46) took eight out of 10 wickets.
