Calling it “a mantra of unity,” he said Vande Mataram continues to inspire Indians across generations. Modi released a commemorative coin and stamp, marking the launch of a year-long national celebration that will honour the song’s legacy. Reflecting on history, the Prime Minister said the 1937 division of Vande Mataram weakened its spirit and planted seeds of division that still challenge India’s unity. Composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterji in 1875, Vande Mataram remains the heartbeat of India’s identity, a force that transcends melody, religion, and region, uniting a billion voices in one shared emotion of pride and devotion.
