In the recently held Tamil Union’s 125th anniversary celebrations, Sri Lanka’s famous quartet of Sanath Jayasuriya, Aravinda de Silva, Arjuna Ranatunga, and Muttiah Muralitharan were present, who are also the core pillars of Sri Lankan cricket during the 1990s and the 1996 World Cup win.
While the four legends’ presence was acknowledged, fans online were shocked because of a particular personality’s unrecognisable transformation.
Arjuna Ranatunga was dressed in a red kurta and looked very slim compared to his days as an active cricketer. Ranatunga was known to be healthy and on the heavier side during his stint for Sri Lanka. Known for taking singles by walking and refusing to take doubles, fans were concerned about the sudden transformation of the former Sri Lanka skipper.
However, this sudden transformation has stirred a buzz on social media regarding his health. Some fans even expressed concerns about his internal health.
Arjuna Ranatunga is currently 61 and nearing 62, and though he hasn’t disclosed anything about his weight loss, his appearance as of now seems impressive and healthy, which speaks more of being a fitness freak rather than a health concern. Nevertheless, let’s take a look at how netizens reacted to this transformation of Ranatunga.
“For those who don’t know, this is the man being discussed here. He used to take singles by Walking , and never used to take doubles or 2 runs. Was a legendary captain though, led Sri Lanka to World Cup victory in 1996 and practically saved Murlidharan’s career who was reported for suspected action,” – @aarisha_fabgirl
