That’s it folks… It ends here! Rain and thunderstorms ruin the 5th T20I at Gabba as India will bag the series after a 2-1 series lead at Carrara. A T20I series victory for India on Australian soil after 5 years! The series started with a no-result in Canberra and finished with another rain-dominated fixture..

Indian players will pack their bags now to head for their next assignment against South Africa starting from November 14 in India!!

1998 Test: Gabba, AUS v England. On the final day, Mark Waugh took a couple of wickets with his off-spin as the seamers weren’t allowed to bowl due to dark clouds on the horizon. And then a massive thunder struck the stadium!

Scary scenes continue even today as rain and thunderstorms continue to interrupt the 5th T20I between Australia and India at Gabba…

It’s 16:02 PM IST and it’s still raining in Gabba! The crowd is keeping their hopes high but it seems like its just about a matter of time that the match gets called off due to persistent rain!

Well, the equation is simple!! If rain continues to pour down at Gabba and the match gets abandoned, India will be declared the clear winner of the series as they lead 2-1 after Carrara. It is important to note that the first T20I at Canberra was abandoned due to rain in this five-match affair.

Well, well, well… The drizzle is back at Gabba as we write. However, the umpires are at the sidelines, under the umbrella, having a chat on the development…⛈️

Okay, no rain as of now…However, lightning continues to strike at Gabba… It is still unsafe to come out to play.. Seems like we are heading towards an unfortunate end here!

Frustrating rain accompanied with lighting continues to pour down. Ground staff wait patiently with no movement. Still sizeable crowd present at the stadium but a resumption seems highly unlikely for now.

No positive update folks as it continues to rain at The Gabba. The wait continues……

We might be in for a longer delay as rain makes an entry at The Gabba. It’s drizzling out there with fans and players patiently waiting for the weather to relent.

Things are getting bad at Brisbane as a severe weather has been issued on the big screen. Players and fans have been advised to take shelter and not venture out in the open.

Covers are firmly placed on the pitch and the square of the ground.

Meanwhile, India have 50 runs on the board without the loss of a wicket as Australia dropped two easy chances.

    IND 52-0 (4.5)

The Aussie fielders have lost the plot in the field as Ben Dwarshuis puts down a sitter. Abhishek Sharma is carrying some luck as he survives for the second time inside four overs.

Abhishek punished Nathan Ellis with a six off the last ball to further hurt Australia.

    IND 47-0 (4)

    IND 35-0 (3)

Despite the dropped catch, Abhishek Sharma’s spirits are up. He hit Bartlett for a four as India fetch 8 runs off that over.

    IND 19-0 (2)

Ben Dwarshuis had a terrific start as he troubled Abhishek Sharma with early movement. Glenn Maxwell dropped a dolly at mid-off and Abhishek breathed a sigh of relief. 11 runs off that eventful over.

    IND 11-0 (1)

Its almost game time as Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill walk out to bat first on a lively pitch. Ben Dwarshuis will open the bowling for the Aussies.

India: Tilak Varma has been dropped as Rinku Singh replaces him.

Australia: The host team will play with an unchanged XI.

India Playing XI: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh

Australia Playing XI: Mitchell Marsh (c), Matthew Short, Josh Inglis (wk), Tim David, Josh Philippe, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Ben Dwarshuis, Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa

Australia have won the toss and opted to bowl first!

Mitchell Marsh: “We will bowl first. Looks like a good surface. Always great to be playing here. No changes, thankfully. Last night we had to make 4 changes.”

The pitch at The Gabba, Brisbane is expected to offer a lively contest. The surface here traditionally favours batters with its true bounce and quick outfield.

However, the surface can assist pacers early on with movement and extra bounce, while spinners might find some grip later in the innings.

Teams that adapt quickly to changing conditions and build partnerships are likely to gain the upper hand in this crucial encounter.

With the toss scheduled for at exactly 1:15 PM IST at The Gabba in Brisbane, the match is going to start exactly after 1:45 PM IST.

The evening at Gabba is expected to remain cloudy and humid, with temperatures dropping to around 20°C. Light to moderate showers are likely, with a 79% chance of precipitation and a 23% probability of thunderstorms.

Around 3.4 mm of rainfall is expected, lasting for about two hours. Winds will blow from the west-northwest at 13 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 28 km/h, while dense cloud cover of 99% will persist throughout the evening.

The toss for the 5th T20I between Australia and India will take place at exactly 1:15 PM IST at the iconic venue of Gabba. Captains Suryakumar Yadav and Mitchell Marsh are likely to walk out soon as no weather interruptions are expected…

India (Probable XI): Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Varma, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah

Australia (Probable XI): Mitchell Marsh (c), Matthew Short, Josh Inglis (wk), Tim David, Josh Philippe/Mitchell Owen, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Ben Dwarshuis, Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa

Australia and India have faced each other in 36 T20Is. India holds an edge with 22 wins against Australia, while the latter has only 12 wins. Two of these matches have ended in a no result.

Australia will aim to recover from their 48-run loss, where Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa impressed with three wickets each, but the batting failed to chase 168 despite Mitchell Marsh’s 30.

In contrast, India produced a balanced performance, posting 167 with key knocks from Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma before their bowlers dominated, led by Washington Sundar’s three-wicket haul. With India’s bowlers in fine rhythm and Australia’s batting under pressure, the series decider promises a high-stakes contest.
