IND VS SA
The target is daunting, but the ground’s history of evening dew could turn the game on its head. If the dew factor comes into play, the Proteas’ batting lineup, packed with power hitters, could chase this down. It promises to be an electrifying second half of the contest. We will be back with the chase in a while.
South Africa’s bowling was a mixed bag, starting slowly and getting hammered for a good 20 overs or so, but they bounced back strongly in the middle overs, restricting India’s scoring. However, they again lost control towards the end, allowing India to score freely. Nandre Burger, Ottneil Baartman, Corbin Bosch, and Marco Jansen each took 2 wickets.
India’s innings got off to a blazing start with Yashasvi Jaiswal’s boundary, setting the tone for an aggressive approach. However, Jaiswal’s vulnerability against left-arm seamers was exposed once again as he fell prey to Nandre Burger. The real magic happened when Virat Kohli joined Rohit Sharma in the middle, and the duo unleashed a scoring frenzy, adding 136 runs off 109 balls for the second wicket. Although Ruturaj Gaikwad and Washington Sundar struggled, Kohli and KL Rahul steadied the ship before exploding in the later overs. A crucial partnership between Ravindra Jadeja and Rahul towards the end propelled India to a massive total.
India’s batting has been an absolute rollercoaster. They started strong, faced a middle-overs slump, but ultimately surged to a massive total thanks to Virat Kohli’s 52nd ODI century. Kohli’s incredible knock, combined with Rohit Sharma’s explosive partnership, KL Rahul’s steadying influence, and Ravindra Jadeja’s crucial runs, propelled India to a whopping total of 349.
Has the second run been completed? It was a desperate dive from Kuldeep Yadav. Well, there is a review too from South Africa for LBW. This has pitched well outside the line but the third umpire, Rod Tucker says that we will have to go through the protocol. The Ball Tracking is taking too long to load and therefore, the third umpire suggests that let’s check the run out first. Kuldeep has just made about made his ground with the dive. Over to Ball Tracking now. It has pitched well outside leg.
49.6: Corbin Bosch to Kuldeep Yadav, A couple of leg byes to finish the innings! Bosch keeps it full, pitching outside leg, Kuldeep tries the scoop but fails to lay any bat on it and the ball clips the back leg before dribbling behind towards deep fine leg. Yadav hustles back for the second run and puts in a dive. Quinton de Kock breaks the stumps and it is referred upstairs. Kuldeep’s bat bounced off the shoulder but when it went past the crease initially, it was grounded. Quinton wanted to take a chance with LBW with Bosch on a hat-trick. Aiden Markram went for the review but the Ball Tracking showed that the ball had pitched well outside leg. India finish with 349 on the board!
49.5: Corbin Bosch to Arshdeep Singh, OUT! TIMBER! Absolute perfection from Corbin Bosch! Bosch steams in from over the wicket and nails the yorker with pinpoint accuracy, right at the base of the off stump. Arshdeep stays leg side of the ball and tries to get his bat down quickly but the ball sneaks past the blade and uproots the off pole. Bosch is on a hat-trick. Kuldeep Yadav walks out to bat.
Arshdeep Singh comes out to bat.
49.4: Corbin Bosch to Ravindra Jadeja, OUT! CAUGHT! Couldn’t get enough power behind it, could Ravindra Jadeja. Corbin Bosch looks for another yorker around off but ends up serving a high full toss. Jadeja hangs deep in the crease but the ball comes at an awkward height and he ends up lofting it down to long on. Aiden Markam comes in from the deep and takes a safe catch.
49.3: Corbin Bosch to Harshit Rana, Full and straight, nails the yorker, Rana gets a bit of bat on it but has no idea where the ball went. Rana starts running and turns the strike over.
49.2: Corbin Bosch to Ravindra Jadeja, Goes full and straight, landing it on leg stump, Jadeja takes the front leg out and heaves it to deep mid-wicket for a single.
49.1: Corbin Bosch to Ravindra Jadeja, Follows the batter past the leg stump with a full ball, and Jadeja flicks it away well to the right of long leg for a couple of runs.
Corbin Bosch will bowl the final over. South Africa have been penalised for slow over rate. They will be allowed only 4 fielders outside the 30-yard circle for the last over.
48.6: Marco Jansen to Harshit Rana, Good length around off, Harshit Rana hangs back and plays it late down to deep third. Gets two runs as the ball was played very fine.
Harshit Rana is in next.
48.5: Marco Jansen to KL Rahul, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Doesn’t come off for KL Rahul this time around and he has to walk back. Marco Jansen bangs the ball in on a hard length and bowls it right over middle stump. Rahul attempts the reverse scoop again but ends up running it off the face of the blade straight back to the keeper and Quinton de Kock takes a sharp catch. Rahul departs for 60 (56).
48.4: Marco Jansen to KL Rahul, SIX! Oh, wow, that is some shot from Rahul! KL Rahul is quick to set up for the reverse ramp but Jansen looks to fire it in full on leg stump. However, Rahul adjusts and reverse-scoops it over deep third for a six.
48.3: Marco Jansen to Ravindra Jadeja, Back of a length and around leg, tucked away wide of square leg for a single.
48.2: Marco Jansen to Ravindra Jadeja, FOUR! Lovely timing and it will go for a boundary. Slower one, into the pitch and outside off, Ravindra Jadeja waits well and just pats it away square through covers. The fielder from deep point hares to his left and puts in the dive but ends up fumbling the ball over the ropes.
48.1: Marco Jansen to KL Rahul, Hard length on middle, angling into the batter, Rahul looks to swivel back and pull but gets an inside edge down to fine leg for a single.
