Matthew Breetzke has come out and played some delightful shots including two fours off Arshdeep’s over. Proteas may be three down but they have enough batting depth to chase down the score of 350.
RSA 36-3 (7 Overs)
Arshdeep Singh has removed the dangerous Aiden Markram as the Proteas went three down inside five overs. Markram went fetching for the delivery but the bat hit the ball and went straight into the keeper’s gloves.

Harshit Rana has given India the perfect start with two wickets in an over. First was Ryan Rickleton and then the experienced, Quinton de Kock. Proteas in trouble in Ranchi.

India have to stay content with 349 in 50 overs with some good lower-order counter-attacking from Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul. Earlier, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had set the platform for the hosts against the Proteas.
KL Rahul had to walk back after a well-made 60 with his team almost nearing 350-run mark against SA.

Virat has upped the ante after reaching his 52-century against SA in Ranchi. KL Rahul is giving him good company at the other end as the duo look to end the innings with a bang.

With Virat approaching his 100, India don’t want to end up losing wickets in the middle-overs. The likes of KL Rahul to follow next, it will be difficult for the new batter to get going.

Three down and India seem to have taken a backseat in the scoring rate. There was a lot of fours and sixes when Rohit was batting alongside Virat but that has vanished with two quick wickets.

With the wicket of Rohit for 57, it has brought Ruturaj Gaikwad to the crease and the batter will look to give Virat some company with the latter inching towards another century. As for SA, they will want wickets and know, few more and they are right back in it.

SA finally have something to celebrate as Rohit Sharma is trapped by Marco Jansen for 57. The former captain is dismissed and Proteas take their second wicket of the innings. Virat is joined by Ruturaj Gaikwad.

SA bowlers have not been allowed to settle in by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as the veteran duo have counter-attacked them when the need requires. 150-plus in the 20th over for IND as the hosts have nine wickets still remaining and ample batting to come.

Virat Kohli has brought up his 76th ODI fifty as he smashed Corbin Bosch two sixes off the over. The Ranchi crowd came to watch these two veteran batters in action, and have got what they wanted.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have turned back the clock with some blistering hitting against an inexperienced SA bowling attack. The partnership has crossed 50-run mark and will look to go as far as possible with ample of batting to come down the order.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma are at the crease and have opened the Indian innings against South Africa. Just two overs bowled and India have raced to 15/0 with Jaiswal dealing in boundaries.
KL Rahul – We would have bowled first as well. The preparation has been good, the energy is there with a lot of players coming back, we want to enjoy ourselves in the middle. That’s what the chat has been, we need to use every opportunity we get in the ODI team, this is a great chance to challenge our skills against a very good team. Three spinners and three quicks for us today.
Aiden Markram – We’ll bowl first. Spent a couple of evenings, dew at night time and it’ll be slightly easier to bat at night. Different personnel, the dressing room is at a good place with a lot of energy and fun. It’s an important series, the end role the 2027 WC, still a bit of time, but we’re up against one of the best teams in the world. Just one spinner in Subrayen, I will bowl a bit – Temba and Maharaj have been rested, four seamers for us today.
