As Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer put together a crucial Ashes batting partnership for England, lip-readers have detailed what the captain said to his bowler on day two.
Stokes and Archer were seen involved in a heated discussion on day two after the bowler knocked over Mitchell Starc’s stumps – one of his five wickets in the Australia first innings.
With Stokes’ lips fully in view during the conversation, lip readers have pieced together what he said to Archer in the heat of the moment.
And the England captain didn’t appear to pull any punches with his choice of words.

“Mate, don’t complain about the field placings when you bowl s***,” Stokes said, according to lip readers.
Stokes was also seen to say “bowl on the stumps and look what happens” and told Archer to “shut the f*** up” after the bowler objected to what the captain said.
However the tension between Stokes and Archer evaporated quickly with duo putting on a crucial partnership to keep England alive in the series.
At time of writing, Stokes and Archer had put on 92 runs for the ninth wicket, with Stokes on 71 not out and Archer on 48 not out.
The duo took England from 8/168 and 203 runs behind, to trail the Aussies by only 111 runs in the first session on day three.
