Alongside their masterclasses, the day also saw unprecedented scoring feats, headlined by Bihar’s historic total and a teenage prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi rewriting global List A records.
It was a reminder of why India’s 50-over domestic competition still holds a special place in the game’s ecosystem.
Rohit Sharma marked his return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after seven years with a commanding 155 off just 94 balls for Mumbai against Sikkim.
Opening the batting, he dominated from the start, striking 18 fours and nine sixes as Mumbai cruised to an eight-wicket win. The knock included a 62-ball century and showcased the same authority that has defined his ODI career.
Virat Kohli was equally influential for Delhi, anchoring a successful chase with a composed 131 from 101 deliveries against Andhra. He mixed control with aggression, finishing with 14 boundaries and three sixes.
During the innings, Kohli also became the fastest batter to reach 16,000 List A runs, achieving the landmark quicker than Sachin Tendulkar, according to official tournament data.
