Minnesota forced six turnovers and sacked Jared Goff five times, with safety Harrison Smith having an interception and sack. Jordan Addison sealed it late with a 65-yard touchdown run, as the Vikings won their fourth straight to improve to 8–8. Rookie Max Brosmer was 9-of-16 passing for just 51 yards. Detroit’s loss clinched at least a wild-card spot for Green Bay. The Vikings host the Packers next Sunday, Jan. 4.
— Bo Nix ran for a touchdown and threw a go-ahead pass to R.J. Harvey, leading the Denver Broncos to a 20-13 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Nix finished with 182 yards passing, helping the Broncos bounce back from last week’s loss to Jacksonville. The Chiefs struggled offensively with third-string quarterback Chris Oladokun. The former South Dakota State Jackrabbits was 13-of-22 for 66 yards and a touchdown. The Broncos can clinch the AFC West title on Saturday, if the Chargers lose to Houston.
— Dak Prescott threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns as the Cowboys beat the Washington Commanders 30–23. Dallas scored touchdowns on its first three drives and jumped out to a 21–3 lead. Prescott also tied Tony Romo’s franchise record with his fourth season of at least 30 touchdown passes. Washington, playing without its top two quarterbacks, have lost 10 of their last 11 games.
— Steelers star pass rusher T.J. Watt returned to practice for the first time since suffering a partially punctured lung two weeks ago. Watt was a limited participant, working in individual drills as he continues to recover from surgery. His status for Sunday’s game in Cleveland remains uncertain.

Victor Wembanyama added 19 points and 11 rebounds as San Antonio shot better than 53% while holding OKC under 39%. It was the Spurs’ third win over the Thunder in two weeks and their eighth straight overall. Oklahoma City was led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 22 points in just their second home loss of the season.
— Jalen Brunson scored 34 points as the Knicks staged a huge Christmas comeback, rallying from 17 down in the fourth quarter to beat the Cavaliers 126–124. New York’s bench led the comeback, with Jordan Clarkson scoring 25 and rookie Tyler Kolek adding 16 points and nine assists. Brunson hit the go-ahead three with just over a minute left as the Knicks won on Christmas Day for the third straight year. Cleveland was led by Donovan Mitchell’s 34 points.
— Amen Thompson scored 26 points as the Houston Rockets never trailed in a 119–96 win over Luka Doncic and the Lakers in Los Angeles. Kevin Durant added 25 points and nine assists, and Houston dominated the boards by 23. Doncic scored 25 and LeBron James had 18 for the Lakers, who lost their third straight.
— Steph Curry scored 23 points and hit a key late three as the Warriors beat the Mavericks 126–116. Jimmy Butler nearly had a triple-double with 14 points, nine assists and nine rebounds. Dallas rookie Cooper Flagg led all scorers with 27 points in his Christmas debut, but the Mavericks lost Anthony Davis to a groin injury in the second quarter.

— The Pirates are making a rare long-term free agent move, agreeing to a two-year, $29 million deal with All-Star first baseman and outfielder Ryan O’Hearn.
