Mary Grieco, 99, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, at Celebration Villa of Loyalsock. Born May 10, 1925 in Williamsport, she was the loving daughter of Michela (Mercaldo) and Nicola Perciballi. Mary grew up in the largely Italian – American neighborhood of Front and Williams Streets and graduated from Williamsport High School. She married Louis Grieco in 1946 and together they shared 55 years of marriage until his passing in 2001. They were active members of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother who was continuously focused on the well-being of her family. An active reader and book enthusiast, Mary emphasized the importance of advanced education to her three children. She was physically active and enjoyed tennis, golf, ice skating and swimming laps at the Grampian Hills Club. Mary looked forward to her weekly bridge game with a close group of friends. A well-informed gardener, Mary used her home grown tomatoes and basil to prepare an impeccable marinara sauce. Cooking and family dinners were a primary focus in her household which she always accented with a glass of red wine. Mary had many close family friends and relatives, and she enjoyed meeting people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Mary was predeceased by her brother, Henry in 2020. She is survived by her three children, Nancy Pfeiffer of Williamsport; Anthony (Lois) Grieco of Williamsport; and John (Renee) Grieco of Wyndmoor, Pa. Mary had three grandchildren, Ashley (Matthew) McClain, Melissa (Ryan) Vaughan, and William (Colleen) Pfeiffer, and eight great-grandchildren.
Mary took great pride in her self-care and appearance. The Grieco and Pfeiffer families want to thank the caring and dedicated staff at Celebration Villa of Loyalsock for enabling Mary to live out her final years with the grace and dignity that she so deserved.
