WELLS — No. 17-seeded Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated No. 16-seeded United South Central 61-48 on Friday night in the first round of the Section 2A boys basketball playoffs.
The win moves GFW on to a meeting with top-seeded Springfield at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in Springfield.
Cole Jacobson led the Thunderbirds with 27 points, while Carter Klages had 15 points and Easton Taylor added 14 points.
USC was led by Zayden Schott’s 12 points, while Dylan Stephens had 10 points.
