SLM vs WIM International Masters League T20 Highlights: West Indies beat Sri Lanka, to meet India in final

SLM vs WIM International Masters League T20 live score: Sri Lanka Masters go up against West Indies Masters in the second semifinal of the International Masters League T20. Kumar Sangakkara’s Lankan side finished on top of the points table in the group stage and now meet fourth-placed Brian Lara-led West Indies side in the second semifinal.

India made light work of the Aussies in the first semifinal to storm into the final and now await their opponent in the summit clash. Both these teams will look to seal the final place and challenge India for the glory.
Match Scorecard

Gunaratne gave it a shot. He almost got it. However, his effort of 66 goes in vain. West Indies hung in, long enough, to take this by six runs.
Simmons holds his nerve in such pressure situation. West Indies win this one by six runs. Eight runs from the first two balls and then no run from the other four.
A good over by Tino Best. He gets Perera and leaves 15 runs off the final over. This match is swinging like anything. Gunaratne still out and he will face the last over.
Four fours there. What an over for Sri Lanka Masters and they will feel they are back in it. Gunaratne hits two fours and then Perera also gets a couple of boundaries here. Lara had dropped a sitter of Gunaratne in that over, and the two have lined Simmons up.
Udana has been clean bowled. A six and then a wicket. Dwayne Smith gets his man. Udana is so angry with his dismissal. Sri Lanka need 44 from 22. Dilruwan is now in.
Nine from the previous over. This game is sitting on the knife’s edge at the moment. WI will feel they are a wicket away. Can Udana and Gunaratne do it for SL?
16 runs from the 15th over. Just what Sri Lanka need right now. Udana with a six and a four. 59 now needed from 30 balls. It is on!
Another one gone. This was a close call for the umpire. Mendis looked to guide it behind on the leg side and seemingly got an edge. The umpire ruled it wide, however, the Windies reviewed it and there was a spike when the ball was near the bat. Mendis is not happy but he is gone.
Chaturanga has been caught-behind and Sri Lanka are now five down. This is another soft dismissal as he edges an attempted glance to the keeper.
Just when Sri Lanka were looking to keep the momentum going, they have lost another one. Prasanna has been caught out at backward point. He looked to heave this for a six and gets a leading edge, easily taken by Simmons.
Sri Lanka are currently in trouble. They are at 65/3 after 9 overs and need 115 more from 66 balls. This is looking a tall task, but West Indies went strong in the latter half of the innings too. SL would look to do the same.
And now the set batter Tharanga is gone too. Similar dismissal, Tharanga looked to guide this bak-of-a-length one on the leg side. He gets a tickle and the wicketkeeper does the rest. SL now 57/3 after 7.3
Tino Best gets Thirimanne. This is a much-needed wicket. A soft dismissal. Thirimanne glanced it to short fine and is caught out.
Sri Lanka have put up 50 on the board. Tharanga is going strong and while Sri Lanka have lost Sangakkara, this is a fine start.
Sri Lankan openers – Tharanga and Sangakkara – are out in the middle to chase this down. Ashley Nurse to start with the new ball. 180 is the target. Here we go
A fine end from West Indies here. They were at 67/3 after 10 overs and have got to 179 now. A couple of no-balls by Pradeep there, and this could prove costly. a good recovery by West Indies. Sri Lanka need to chase to 180 to meet India in the final.
Lara has decided to go back. He is retiring himself out. A good 41-run knock from 33 balls from him. Ashley Nurse is in now.
Ramdin and Lara are looking for a strong end. Ramdin smashed two fours and a six off Lakmal’s 17th over. 17 runs from that. West Indies are at 141/4.
The partnership has been broken. Walton has been dismissed for 31 from 20. He has holed this out to long-on. The 60-run stand from 39 balls is broken.
100 is up for West Indies. They have pressed the accelerator now and are looking to go big. They are at 101/3 after 13 overs.
The first 10 overs are done, and West Indies are in trouble. Captain Lara and Walton are in the middle as they look to bail the team out of this, however, the scoring rate is way too low at the moment. West Indies are at 67/3 after 10. Need 100 more from here.
And now Perkins is gone too. Jeevan Mendis comes and strikes in his first over. Perkins holes this out to long-on.
That’s another big blow for the Windies. Simmons, who had hit a hundred here, is gone. He is caught-behind on 17. Windies are at 44/2 after 6.2. Captain Lara is in now.
That’s the end of the powerplay. This has been a good tussle so far. Isuru Udana bowled a few good overs and now Perkins and Simmons are looking to go big. WI 43/1 after 6
Perkins is now looking to break the shackles. He hits a couple of boundaries off Udana to keep the scoreboard ticking. West Indies are 17/1 after 3
And that’s a big blow. The in-form Dwayne Smith is gone. A big mix-up between Smith and Perkins. Perkins hit this to mid-off as both the batters looked for a run. But no one got going, and Smith was left in the middle. He is gone. Simmons is in now
Dwayne Smith and William Perkins are out in the middle for West Indies. Isuru Udana has the new ball in his hand. Off we go in this second semifinal.
West Indies finished fourth in the group. They defeated Australia, England and South Africa. The Windies suffered losses against Sri Lanka and India.
The Lankan side won four of their five matches in the group stage. They defeated South Africa, Australia, West Indies and England and lost to only India
“We have success from the bowlers over the last few days from six to eight meters. We saw Ravi Rampaul with a fifer here. The pitch is dry, there are plenty of runs. But there is help for the seam bowlers if you hit that length. Hit the pitch hard, Watson got out that way the other night. Then in the second innings, there is rough near the crease, and spinners will come into play. Interesting that Sangakkara wants his bowlers to bowl. Not a bad plan as they have a strong seam attack”
Lendl Simmons and Kumar Sangakkara have hit centuries at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur in the group stage. They both are playing today for West Indies and Sri Lanka. We hope they can replicate that magic.
Sri Lanka Masters (Playing XI): Kumar Sangakkara(w/c), Asela Gunaratne, Upul Tharanga, Lahiru Thirimanne, Jeevan Mendis, Seekkuge Prasanna, Isuru Udana, Chaturanga de Silva, Dilruwan Perera, Nuwan Pradeep, Suranga Lakmal
West Indies Masters (Playing XI): Dwayne Smith, William Perkins, Lendl Simmons, Brian Lara(c), Ashley Nurse, Chadwick Walton, Denesh Ramdin(w), Tino Best, Jerome Taylor, Sulieman Benn, Ravi Rampaul
Teams have been able to set totals. It was a good toss to lose. I didn’t know what to do. We have four changes. Hopefully, we have the squad that can win this game. We have to try to get a good total. They are a good chasing team. We don’t want to lose wickets, we have big hitters up front
We will bowl first. Not sure about the dew. It’s about doing the right thing, and the right thing is chasing what we get. We have been pretty good, but we have to keep playing well. Attitude counts. Romesh Kaluwitharana is out for Nuwan Pradeep.
Sri Lanka Masters captain Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and decided that his team would be bowling first. India won here last night, batting first. Will this backfire?
India face Australia in the first semifinal and made light work of them. A brilliant all-round performance with the bat powered the Men in Blue to 220. Shahbaz Nadeem starred with the ball as he took a four-wicket haul and set-up India’s 94-run win.
We are not far away from the toss. The two captains will be out soon at the center, trying to win the flip of the coin and choosing what they want.
It’s time for the second semifinal in the International Masters League T20. Sri Lanka meet West Indies in the second semifinal of the tournament. India defeated Australia in the first semifinal and are now into the finale. One of these two will meet India. Stay tuned as we take you across this game.
