Pakistan's tour of New Zealand 2025 Live: Pakistan are in deep trouble. Asked to set a target in the tour opener, Salman Agha & Co. could manage only 91 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, and inflicting the damage on the visiting party were pacers Kyle Jamieson (3/8) and Jacob Duffy (4/14). Follow the live cricket scores and updates from the NZ vs PAK match
“Great to be back on home soil with pretty favorable conditions. You always plan for a bit of chaos, so when things fall into place like that, it makes the job much easier. A clinical all-round team performance today. We’ve got a strong group of players, great depth, and guys who can exploit conditions not just here but around the world.”
“(On Duffy) The partnership aspect of T20 cricket, especially in bowling, is huge. I think between the two of us, along with Zak, it was a fantastic effort from the pace attack.”
“It was obviously difficult, we weren’t up to the mark. They bowled really well, bowled in the right areas and got the ball to seam and swing. Debutants will learn as they play and they have to learn quickly as well. We’ll look to bounce back.”
This won’t do Pakistan’s already struggling cricket team any favors. A dominant performance from the hosts sees New Zealand take an early lead in the series with a convincing victory.
Chasing a modest 92, New Zealand came out all guns blazing, led by Tim Seifert’s aggressive strokeplay. Finn Allen played the perfect supporting role, never letting Pakistan’s bowlers settle. The duo’s blistering start all but sealed the deal early, leaving Pakistan with no answers.
From the first ball, it was all New Zealand—clinical with both bat and ball. Jacob Duffy’s fiery bowling set the tone, ensuring Pakistan never got a foothold in the contest. A one-sided affair, and Pakistan will need to regroup fast.
Pakistan are already down and out in this one! Mohammad Ali runs in… Allen swings… crunch! That’s FOUR! And with that, we head to a drinks break. But let’s be real—New Zealand need just two more runs, and this is heading towards a nightmare start for Pakistan.
Shadab Khan continues. 10 runs from his second over, including a six over long off hit by Tim Robinson off. Khan manages his captain to take a review for LBW off the last delivery. No bat but the ball missing the leg stump. Robinson is safe. Khan’s figures so far – 2/18. New Zealand need 16 runs in 66 balls.
Abrar Ahmed opens his spell with a dot, but got hit for a maximum by Tim Seifert — a towering six over long-off. A dot, then a couple to mid-on. The leggie, however, gets the last laugh. Bottom edge and brilliant work behind the wicket by Mohammad Haris. Dangerous Seifert goes for 44 off 29.
Tim Robinson is the new man, and he blocks. Eight runs from the over. New Zealand need 39 in 84 balls.
Jahandad Khan, another left-arm pacer, on. Finn Allen more than happy to take a single and rotate. A dot, then Tim Seifert hits back-to-back fours, over backward point and to fine leg. A single, and Allen lofts the sixth for a six, clean and straight. 16 from the over.
New Zealand now need 47 in 90.
Pakistan captain Salman Agha gives debutant Mohammad Ali another over. Seven from the over, including a four off the fourth, hit by Tim Seifert to mid on boundary.
Shaheen Afridi continues from the same end. Two singles, then Tim Seifert pulls the third for a four. Disdainful, off the back foot. And what, he dismisses the next too, same area. Some scrambling for a couple following a tough chance backward square leg. The eventful over ends with another four, this time over cover. 16 from the over.
New Zealand need 70 runs. In the previous over, Mohammad Ali leaked five runs.
Four dots, then a single to backward point. And a single. Shaheen Afridi indeed manages to keep Finn Allen quiet. The touring party will need a lot more of that, keeping the Kiwis quiet. Mohammad Ali shares the new ball.
    NZ – 1/0 (1)
Shaheen Afridi with the new ball. Tim Seifert takes the strike, and his opening partner is Finn Allen. Both can be destructive. Target for New Zealand, mere 92 runs in 120 deliveries.
Jacob Duffy, a domestic giant, misses a hat-trick. New man Mohammad Ali takes a quick single off the second ball. Duffy had earlier dismissed Khushdil Shah and Shaheen Afridi.
The 30-year-old from Southland, however, gets the honour of leading the team off the field after claiming a four-wicket haul (4/14). He had Abrar Ahmed caught at mid-off.
Thus, Pakistan are dismissed for 91 all out in 18.4 overs. The proceedings looked a lot quicker than the actual play.
Kyle Jamieson returns for final over, and concedes five runs. Still, he ends with figures of 3/8 in four overs. Sensational figures. Pakistan, meanwhile, will look for a fighting total, and a lot will depend on Jahandad Khan, who’s batting on 17 off 16.
    PAK – 85/7 (17)
Abdul Samad, of the three Pakistani debutants today, holes out for 7 in 12, caught by Michael Bracewell at long off. Second wicket for Ish Sodhi. Shaheen Afridi in the middle now.
In the previous over, Kiwi skipper Michael Bracewell conceded five singles and completed his spell, 28/0.
    PAK – 80/7 in 15.3 overs
Jacob Duffy gets his second. Back for his third over, the pacer gets the better of a pocking Khushdil Shah (32 off 30), caught at backward point by Finn Allen. Straight forward catch. Jahandad Khan joins Abdul Samad.
    PAK – 64/6 in 13 overs
Ish Sodhi has the last laugh. Pakistan skipper Salman Agha, probably trying to mimic his batting partner Khushdil Shah, lofts one to welcome back Sodhi but ends up holing out at deep point, caught by Tim Seifert. Agha goes for 18 off 20. Moments ago, Shah hit Michael Bracewell for back-to-back sixes to milk 15 runs from the 11th.
A promising 46-rus is broken. Abdul Samad is the new man, and Pakistan are tottering at 57/5 in 11.1 overs.
Spin on. Ish Sodhi, playing his first T20I in four months, leaks 14 runs, including a four, off fourth by Salman Agha (16 off 17), and a six off the sixth, over deep midwicket, by Khushdil Shah (17 off 23).
A period of relative calm in Christchurch. Agha and Shah are in an unbeaten stand of 31 runs in 32 balls, and in the last overs, they have added 31.
PAK – 42/4 in 10 overs. They were 11/4 a little while ago.
Zakary Foulkes, the local lad, gets his first over. A couple of singles and a wide, and Pakistan now has recorded their second lowest powerplay score in history.
Foulkes in fact convinces his captain to take a review for caught behind as Salman Agha prods to defend in the final delivery of the over. Just misses the outside edge.
    PAK – 14/4 (6)
Kyle Jamieson is relentless. The right-arm pacer from Auckland gets his third in 16 deliveries. Shadab Khan (3 off 6)fishes outside the line, and is caught by a flying Tim Robinson at backward point, reminiscent of Glenn Phillips act. Jamieson’s figures now read 3/4.
Salman Agha is the new man for Pakistan in the middle. He joins Salman Agha, who is unbeaten on 7 off 8.
PAK – 11/4 in five overs

Make it two for Kyle Jamieson. The lanky pacer removes Irfan Khan for one run (1 off 6), caught behind. Once again extra bounce doing the damage. Shadab Khan gives Salman Agha company in the middle.
    PAK – 3/3 (2)
Pakistan are in trouble. Openers Mohammad Haris (0 off 6) and Hasan Nawaz (0 off 2) are back in the hut.
Kyle Jamieson starts with a wicket-maiden, snaring Haris for a six-ball duck — caught by Mitchell Hay at third man. Two deliveries later, Nawaz Jacob Duffy induces an edge. Easy take for Jamieson at third man. And Pakistan are yet to open the scoring.
