Mumbai Indians beat Rajathan Royals by 100 runs.
Last wicket left for Rajasthan Royals as they face a heavy defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians. On the other hand, MI look oncourse for another brilliant win.
This match is becoming a slow burning poison for Rajasthan Royals. They have already lost 6 wickets in this steep chase of 218. Dhruv Jurel is the last recognised batter left for RR.
Riyan Parag’s wicket is a mighty blow to Rajasthan Royals considering the situation. Jasprit Bumrah bowled a bouncer as Parag could only get a top edge and Rohit completed a safe catch.
An untimely fall for Vaibhav Suryavanshi as he falls for a duck after a scintillating hundred. OUT!!! Yashasvi Jaiswal falls too. Rajasthan Royals lose both openers.
Fantastic final over from Madhwal until the final ball, which is a loose half-volley which SKY can hammer down the ground for a six. 94(46) for this partnership. A phenomenal performance with trhe bat for MI. A tall task ahead of RR.
Good comeback from Jofra Archer, concede only one boundary and keeps it down to 8. MI pas 200 though, RR need to finish well here. Can’t afford to be chasing 220.
Sky breaks a record, Ian Bishop mentions it on comms, this being his 11th IPL game in a row, where he has scored 25 or more runs. Remarkable consistentcy and all the way more consistent given some of the shots he plays. Walks across and plays Jofra for a six over the keeper. Just regular SKY things.
Really strange overs from RR here with two ner batters at the crease. Parag calls third man and asks Farooqi to bowl slow, short and wide. Easy, easy runs for two new men, can free their arms at will and find simple boundaries. Not great thinking from captain Parag and his bowling unit here.
The RR captain does the trick. Tosses it wide of off and Rohit is stretching as he tries to elevate. Simple catch for Jaiswal at long-off.
Something of an opening here for RR, but SKY has started well at the other end.
Big six off a half-tracker and its 50 for Rickleton. Off just 29 balls, his third of the season, developing into a real asset for MI. He will want to convert this one into a biggie.
90-0 after 9.
Another big over to close the powerplay out, 13 of this one and MI much the happier team at the end of the powerplay. RR needs wicket to drag this back, but Rickleton and Rohit looking in good touch.
Big over. The openers don’t hold back once Jofra comes back and RR suddenly under the pump despite a good start.
Rickleton puts an exclamation mark in the over with abig six over the mid-wicket. Score moves to 45/0 after 5 overs.
Nearly, the opening wicket. Farooqi gets Rohit caught in front with a slower ball and last minute Rohit reviews. Its a good call- pitching outside leg by less than a whisker. Luck on Rohit’s side.
9/0 after two, a few droplets of rain falling in Jaipur.
Players out in the middle and set to go. Jofra Archer will want an early impact against Ryan Rickleton on strike, Rohit Sharma up the other end.
The toss does goes the way of the home team with Parag opting to chase in their all-pink special kit. Two changes for them due to forced injuries to Hasaranga and Sandeep Sharma with Kumar Kartikeya and Akash Madhwal set to play against their former team.
Its a big ask to try and find the same level of form a player hits when they reach a T20 century, but the hype train has left the station when it comes to 14-year old Suryavanshi. His hard-hitting free-style swinging style of play means he won’t have the same level of consistentcy as the likes of his opening partner, especially given his youth and inexperience- but these facts don’t care for momentum and emotion. For all cricket fans the order of the day is Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Can he live up to the weight of those expectations?
Only half an hour from the two captains heading to the middle for the toss. Very much a chasing ground, with two wins batting second and the only batting first having come durine one of RR’s bottled chases. In practice, it will be a no-brainer: make use of the best conditions to bat later at night and choose to bowl first.
There will be a lot of responsibility on Jofra Archer up front to take early wickets and put some pressure on the MI middle order, but it is likely that the game could swing heavily in MI’s favour if SKY remains at the crease for an extended period. From RR’s perspective, Hasaranga is a high-risk high-reward player faced against SKY and MI’s range of lefties such as Tilak Varma. His wicket-taking ability is there, but he also tends to be pretty expensive if he isn’t on top of his game. RR’s chances of success hinge on him being able to attack SKY early, with away spin having kept him relatively quiet so far this season.
