Still no update from the centre and we continue to wait. If the rain carries on, we might be in for a shortened contest.
We unfortunately have no good news yet, and the weather forecast for the afternoon does not not promising. However, we will have an update soon from the officials.
Earlier on in the day, Aayushi Shukla’s match-winning spell earned her the well-deserved Player of the Match award, and also helped India to ticket to the final of the U-19 Women’s T20 Asia Cup.
If the Nepal Vs Bangladesh game is washed out due to rain, BAN-W will go through to the final with a superior net-run rate. The final is scheduled for Sunday, December 22 at 7:00 AM IST.
After the rain delay, we have an official announcement. The game is scheduled to start at 1:10 PM IST, 3:40 PM local time.
We are finally underway in Kuala Lumpur. Due to the delay, this will be a 11-over a side contest. Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first.
After losing a wicket early on in slightly overcast conditions, Nepal’s Puja Mahato and Sabitri Dhami have started to slowly take the scorecard forward. However, they will need to press the attack with the game reduced to 11 overs.
Bangladesh are all over Nepal at the moment, and the batting side have no place to hide. There have been three run-outs, three, while Anisa Akter Soba has been the lone wicket-taker.
Nepal have now lost more than half their side, having scored just 47 in nine over. With not much batting left in the tank to accelerate, they will need to get how much ever possible with a final ticket on the line.
Nepal finish with 54 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets in 11 overs. Opener Sabitri Dhami was the highest scorer with 11, while for Bangladesh, Farjana Easmin, Anisa Akter Soba, Fahomida Choya, and Habiba Islam picked up a wicket each.
A cautious start from Bangladesh openers but they get a boundary off the last ball of the over to make it a good over. Fahomida Choya with the boundary.
Bangladesh openers have totally shut the game down. They now just need 23 runs in 36 balls to get into the final of the U-19 Women’s Asia Cup.
Bangladesh reach the target of 58 runs in only 9.5 overs and win the match against Nepal by 9 Wickets!
Fahmida Choya of Bangladesh earns the player of the match award for her unbeaten 26 off 32 balls including 3 boundaries that helped her side claim victory in the rain shortened virtual semi-finals match.
With this victory Bangladesh booked a spot in the tournament’s final to face India on December 22, Sunday.
