That was an impressive performance by Holge Rune and the Dane was understandably pleased with his performance against a talented opponent.
Here's what he had to say on court after confirming his place in the third round:
"I think it was good, I played very well in the first set and then the second set was a big battle. I played some big shots and had to stay very consistent because he was playing tight tennis. I had to really stay there and keep focused and try to play on my terms. I started well in the third set but then lost a bit of focus but I am very happy.
"It's one of my favourite courts, it's so beautiful and it's the best clay court in the world. It's one of the most special courts and the crowd makes it so special every night.
"I am 22, I am still trying to figure out (who I am). I'm much calmer off the court but tennis is where I have my passion and show my emotions. Tennis is amazing because it bring everyone together and it is why we all love it. I'm very energised when I play and try to tell myself to stay calm but it's all part of the process and we all play in different ways."
FINAL: Nava 3-6, 6-7, 3-6 Rune
Credit to Nava for his efforts in that match — the American packed plenty of punch in that match and gave a great account of himself.
But Rune was too strong in the end and capitalised on too many unforced errors from his opponent.
Nava 3-6, 6-7, 3-5* Rune
Holger Rune has not slowed down much in this set despite some resistance from Emilio Nava.
There have been plenty of long rallies throughout the game but he is now just two points away from wrapping up this match and booking his place in the next round.
Nava 3-6, 6-7, *2-3 Rune
This is not a record that Emilio Nava will want to dwell on.
He is playing higher-ranked opposition in Holger Rune who has an impressive record in grand slams from this position. He has never lost a match at a slam when he has won the first two sets with 13 wins from 13 matches.
Rune broke Nava early in what could be a decisive third set in this match but the American has battled back with his own break in the last game.
FINAL: Tiafoe 6-6, 6-3 6-1 Carreno Busta
While we have been enjoying the showpiece thriller on Chatrier, the USA's Frances Tiafoe booked his place in the next round over on court 14.
He did so in fairly straightforward fashion against world No. 99 Carreno Busta, who reached the quarter-final in 2020.
Tiafoe will meet Sebastian Korda in the next round.

Nava 3-6, 6-7, *0-0 Rune
Rune has it!
What a rally to end that set — at one stage in the final game Rune had four set points only to allow Nava back in.
In the end he managed to press home his advantage to put him in the driving seat in this match. Nava has been incredibly good value for his performance tonight but has been unlucky not to come away with more for his efforts so far.
Nava 3-6, 5-4* Rune
The contest on Philippe-Chatrier is proving enthralling, as Emiliano Nava has built an advantage in the second set.
Holger Rune took the first with a strong showing and is now serving to stay in the second.
Both players have executed some great forehand shots in this set.
An update for you from around Roland Garros as we near the close of day four.
Elena Rybakina has progressed to the third round after a straight sets win over USA's Iva Jovic while elsewhere in the women's singles Jelena Ostapenko
advanced after a three-set win over America's Caroline Dolehide.
On court 14, Frances Tiafoe has a one set advantage over Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta, while in an all-American clash on court 6 Sebastian Korda has a two set lead over Jenson Brooksby as their match enters the third set.
Nava 3-6, *0-0 Rune
We're underway in the showpiece match of the evening on Court Philippe-Chatrier between Emilio Nava and No. 10 seed Holger Rune.
Rune, 22, is looking to better his quarter-final runs at the French Open of 2022 and 2023 and he has taken the first set in this second-round game.
Unforced errors built up for Nava, who went out in the first round at Roland Garros last year and is a relative newcomer to the majors scene.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is out of the French Open after defeat over four sets to Italian Matteo Gigante.
The 26-year-old from Greece is clearly not feeling himself on court at the moment, as he reflected on his performance today in a post match press conference:
"It's difficult facing an opponent that you don't know much about," he said. "He probably went into the match not expecting much of himself, that's quite normal. He might have felt prepared and ready to take on the match and the difficult task of having to play me. He did that exceptionally well. He handled the pressure moments well, played good tennis.
"I seemed to be playing immature in some times during the match and I'm not extremely happy about that. I need to compartmentalise that a bit and get back to my old routines, the way I construct certain things and not have things flow out of control the way they did today.
"On the other hand, I also have to give credit to him because he made me reach that stage too."

That's another match wrapped up for the day in swift fashion by a women's singles seed, so let's hear from Aryna Sabalenka:
"She started really well," she said in an on court interview. "She played her best game and it's always tough matches against her, she plays great tennis and the variety is crazy. I stepped in and was trying to find a rhythm and I'm glad that I held my serve at 3-1 (in the first set) and I felt like I had a little more energy. I felt like I had it.
"It was a tough match and it doesn't matter what the score sheet reads, I'm really happy for this win.
"We have been working a lot on the variety of my game, coming to the net, using the touch game. I am really happy that it is working in matches and it has given me lots of benefits."
FINAL: Sabalenka 6-3, 6-1 Teichmann
And there we have it — as easy as you like, Aryna Sabalenka is through to the next round.
She made light work of that one in one hour 19 minutes.
That's the sort of performance that reminds people why you are world No. 1. The bad news for Sabalenka's competitors is that she looks in better form than ever, too.
Sabalenka 6-3, *4-1 Teichmann
There's a reason she is world No. 1.
Aryna Sabalenka is flying in her second round match on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, having taken the first set she is powering through the second at full steam.
There is a driven determination in her play — after a pretty swift dispatch of her first round opponent she looks on course to do the same in round two.
FINAL: Fucsovics 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 5-7, 4-6 Paul
How about that!
Tommy Paul has come through a marathon of a match against Márton Fucsovics to reach the third round.
It looked pretty hairy there for the American at one point but he gets the job done and is now spending time with the fans who were vocal in their support of him all match.
Confidence is key in sport and there are not many players more assured than Carlos Alcaraz right now.
The Spaniard has booked his place in the next round of the French Open with a win today and spoke to TNT Sports about how he feels about his tennis so far this week:
"I am really happy (with my game right now)," he said. "I think I am playing a really high level of tennis, I started the match well. I'm really focused before every match. In the second set he started to play better and better and he broke my serve in the second game. That boost helped him to play better but it was really good to refresh my mind and forget the second set to improve my tennis from there.
"I was thinking about the important things. To enjoy it, have fun out there and not think about the result and the pressure that I might have in the matches. That helped me a lot to move really well and go with the flow in the matches.
"I am feeling comfortable with the matches that I have played. Everything that I have done. I'm really pleased about. I always say that I can be better in everything, even the things I am happy with. The days off and the practice help me to improve the things that I want to and be better."

Gigante 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 Tsitsipas
One of the shocks of this year's tournament so far has been confirmed; 23-year-old Matteo Gigante has eliminated Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The Italian, ranked outside the world's top 150 has the win of his career and he only needed four sets to do it on Court Simonne-Mathieu. Tsitsipas levelled the match in an hour-long second set but then was blown away by his Italian opponent.
He blitzed his way through the third set in a little over half an hour before wrapping up his second-round win in the fourth. Tsitsipas had four break points at *4-5 in that fourth set but didn't take any of them and Gigante needed just one match point to close it out.
It is the fourth time in a row that the Greek No. 1 has not made it past the second round at a major as his poor run of form continues.
Gigante will face Ben Shelton in the third round.
Action has resumed over on Court Suzanne-Lenglen as women's singles world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is in action against Switzerland's Jil Teichmann.
Can Teichmann cause a major upset?
Sabalenka will hope not as she goes in pursuit of a first French Open title. Her best finish here is in the semi-final in 2023, so she will be looking to go one further this year to put herself another step closer to a career grand slam.
She booked her place in this round with a win over Kamilla Rakhimova in straight sets, while Teichmann came through in straight sets against Lucrezia Stefanini.
While we're glued to the action between Paul and Fucsovics, plenty has been happening on other courts around Roland Garros.
No. 20 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas is under pressure in the fourth set of his match against Matteo Gigante with the Italian ahead in that set and holding a two set lead.
Damir Dzumhur has advanced at the expense of No. 31 seed Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, while the USA's Bernarda Pera also dumped out a seed as No. 18 Donna Vekic fell in three sets.
Meanwhile, Karen Khachanov found a way past Sebastian Ofner in five sets to head into round three.
And there is plenty more action still to come.
