No. 2 Oklahoma overcomes early woes, downs No. 7 Tennessee on Ella Parker’s walk-off homer in WCWS
What’s interesting is, I don’t recall the broadcast saying anything about intentionally walking Ella Parker when she first got up to bat. But as soon as she slammed that walk-off, Beth Mowins said something about it. So not sure any of us really realized it in the moment.

When asked if there was any consideration into intentionally walking Ella Parker in that seventh inning, Tennessee coach Karen Weekly said, "Not really."
If I'm Tennessee, I'd much rather face a freshman than the one Sooners player who has created offense for the team that day. But as I said before, hindsight is 20/20.
Some more love for Oklahoma rolls in, as former Sooners player and current Nebraska star — who just fell to Tennessee in the Supersn Regionals — Jordy Bahl — praised her former teammate for this sensational play during the game. While it didn’t seem to loom large at the time, boy does it now.
Sooners ace Sam Landry had a feeling she couldn’t quite put her finger on heading into No. 2 Oklahoma’s first game against No. 7 Tennessee in the Women’s College World Series.
“Something’s gonna happen,” she remembered thinking.
But through most of the game, nothing did — for Oklahoma, at least. The Sooners were trailing 3-1 with two outs and runners on first and third in the bottom of the seventh staring down a Friday game in the loser’s bracket. That was until sophomore Ella Parker hammered a walk-off home run, her second of the game, over Devon Park’s center-field wall off Tennessee’s star pitcher Karlyn Pickens.

It doesn't get much better than a walk-off home run at the Women's College World Series.

While we wait for the tarp to be removed, the NCAA softball account is throwing daggers at us “old” people.
Since there's about an hour until the action starts between Ole Miss and Texas Tech, it seems like a good time to reflect on NiJaree Canady's performance against Florida State in the Super Regional. The 2024 Player of the Year shut down a dynamic Seminoles offense led by Michaela Edenfield and Katie Dach.
In two games, Canady tossed all 14 innings, allowing just five hits and one earned run. While she tallied just seven strikeouts, she also allowed just one walk. Not to mention, she launched a homer over the right-center wall in Tallahassee in Game 1. To put it plainly, she is the Raiders' x-factor, and that's not a secret. But she's the one to beat if you're Ole Miss, and that's not a simple task.

It looks like we will be targeting 8:15 p.m. ET/7:15 p.m. CT for the start of the game.
