Gautam Gambhir is aware of the challenges India will face in England. He knows the conditions will completely differ from what the team gets in the subcontinent nation. The absence of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin will impact the overall performance. They are retired from red-ball cricket, and the team needs new match-winners.
“The five venues have different conditions, but overhead conditions will matter the most. The best-playing XI will be selected after considering everything. Be it the pace all-rounder or the spin all-rounder. You can’t win a Test match even after scoring 1,000 runs as you need 20 wickets to win a game,” Gautam Gambhir said.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will lead the bowling department, with Mohammed Shami out of the playing group. The veteran is unfit, and the selectors didn’t select him after a report from the medical panel of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and Akash Deep are the other three pacers in the 18-member team.
Shardul Thakur is the pace all-rounder, while Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar are the spin all-rounders. Kuldeep Yadav is the only specialist spinner in the team.
