Arsenal are leading 3-1 against Bayern Munich in the second half of their Champions League clash.
The visitors made a dominant start but went behind in the 22nd minute as Jurrien Timber headed Bukayo Saka's corner past Manuel Neuer. 10 minutes later, Bayern were on level terms thanks to a wonderfully worked goal finished off by 17-year-old Lennart Karl.
Arsenal were much improved in the second half and got the go-ahead goal they deserved in the 69th minute through substitute Noni Madueke.
Take a look at The Athletic's live schedule this week.
85’ Arsenal 3-1 Bayern Munich
That might be enough of a lead for some teams to sit back but Arsenal are still trying to score here, with some nice play between Martinelli and Odegaard halted by the offside flag.
It has been a real change of gear from the hosts in this half.
83’ Arsenal 3-1 Bayern Munich
This is a formidable Arsenal squad. The depth is extraordinary – that really strikes you when you see the subs coming on – Martin Odegaard and Ben White the latest.
Two of the other subs have scored, another set up one of those goals. And they've got Gabriel Jesus, Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz to come back from injury soon, plus a 15-year-old doing crazy things in the UEFA Youth League.
81’ Arsenal 3-1 Bayern Munich
On come more fresh legs for Arsenal and Arteta has the luxury of resting a few players for the last ten minutes.
Eze and Timber head off, with Odegaard and White on to replace them.
Having Odegaard back after his injury absence will be a real boost.
80’ Arsenal 3-1 Bayern Munich
The Arsenal fans are taunting the travelling Bayern Munich supporters with chants of, "Are you Tottenham in disguise?".
And now, "Harry, what's the score?".
79’ Arsenal 3-1 Bayern Munich
What an impact by Arsenal's attacking subs. Both Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli came on to score and wrestle a tight game away from Bayern.
It is so good for Arteta to have his forward cavalry returning.
78’ Arsenal 3-1 Bayern Munich
As soon as Gabriel Martinelli gets his skates on, defences know they are in danger.
That came from a Bayern corner, Arsenal countered and Eze picked a lovely ball over the top for Martinelli to race onto.
His touch completely took Neuer — who had rushed 30 yards from goal— out of the game, leaving the goal at his mercy. A simple tap-in.
76’ Arsenal 3-1 Bayern Munich
Goodness me! The Emirates explodes as Martinelli scores third for Arsenal on the counter attack.
75’ Arsenal 2-1 Bayern Munich
Another mazy run from Rice ends in him being tackled — but the England international tracks back and sticks a perfect sliding tackle on his international team-mate Kane.
That draws a big cheer from the crowd and he waves his arms to get them to keep it up.
He has been outstanding tonight.
72’ Arsenal 2-1 Bayern Munich
That's a shame for Dayot Upamecano, because he's been so improved since Kompany arrived and has comfortably been Bayern's best centre-back for the past year, but was not the right pass for that situation.
71’ Arsenal 2-1 Bayern Munich
It’s an assist and a goal for two of Arsenal’s subs tonight and you have to say it is deserved.
That came from lovely link-up play between Eze, Rice and Calafiori on the left wing to get the left-back in an advanced position.
His cross had all the whip needed to get it to Madueke in the middle — his finish was not simple but was certainly well taken.
68’ Arsenal 2-1 Bayern Munich
And what about that for an immediate impact from Calafiori! He gets the assist with a lovely run in behind and cross for Madueke to turn in.
68’ Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich
That was a tremendous long diagonal ball to Olise moments ago that Karl, aged 17, was gesturing needed to be hit (incredible maturity in his play). And Olise, not for the first time, got away from Lewis-Skelly, who's had a difficult night and now heads off.
67’ Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich
On come Gabriel Martinelli and Riccardo Calafiori for Bukayo Saka and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
64’ Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich
It's unexpected given all that he's achieved during his career and his reputation for being commanding and dominant, but Manuel Neuer has been vulnerable under the high ball quite regularly this season and Arsenal are examining that flaw at every opportunity.
64’ Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich
Arsenal have already had five headed shots after an hour tonight, their joint-most in any Champions League game since 2023-24.
62’ Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich
Bayern are really struggling to deal with Arsenal's set-piece threat. The delivery has been typically excellent tonight.
62’ Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich
Rice goes on a stellar run up field all the way into the box, and gets a shot away but it is cleared by Laimer on the line.
He had to get a touch or Saka would have had a tap-in — at first it was hard to understand how the Arsenal winger had not scored, but it just came back to him too quickly for him to react.
61’ Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich
It's old news, but the quality of Declan Rice's delivery is remarkable. Every set piece – free kick or corner – is right on the money, and it's a nightmare for Bayern to defend against.
60’ Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich
Three headed chances from corners for Merino in quick succession in this half, and he doesn’t quite make the most of any of them, most recently heading wide from Rice’s inswinger.
Bayern have been effective at shutting them down, for the most part, in open play, but look rather vulnerable to Saka’s inswinging corners from the right.
