AUBURN, Ala. (WAFF) – Auburn Forward Johni Broome was awarded with the highest honor in college basketball on Wednesday.
Broome was named the Sporting News National College Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
The SEC Player of the Year has led the No. 1-ranked Tigers to being the top team for a school-record eight consecutive weeks and led them to the program’s fifth SEC title over the last eight seasons.
He was one of two unanimous selections to the publication’s All-America First Team and became the first player in Auburn Basketball history to be named national player of the year by any news organization.
He ended the regular season averaging 18.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, along with 17 double-double performances.
