Augusta Sports Council, News 12 announces best of the gridiron – WRDW

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Augusta Sports Council along with News 12 and our partners at the Aiken Standard created the CSRA all-team honors.
    Here’s who received recognition:
Coach of the Year was given to Franklin Stephens from Burke County.
The 2024 Offensive Player of the Year was awarded to Jevon Edwards from South Aiken, the Defensive Player of the Year was given to Alex Powell from North Augusta High School.
Thursday night, the Augusta Sports Council officially gave USC’s Eddie Czaplicki the Ray Guy Award, given to the nation’s best punter.
“It means the world to me. I think it’s the culmination of a lot of work I put in, always persisting when things haven’t gone my way. But more so, just to be associated with the name Ray Guy, I think it’s such an honor. He was such a pioneer of the game, set the standard for generations of players at my position,” said Czaplicki.
Youngstown State University junior punter, Brendon Kilpatrick was awarded the 2024 FCS Punter of the Year honor.
“I never thought I would be capable of something like this. So I’m very proud and I’m very thankful for the people who got me to this point. I think every punter growing up, you hear that name and it just, it’s different for sure. At my level, I know it’s not possible to win that award, but it’s still, you look back and it’s just so special. You hear that name, it almost, it just means something different to people, I think. And this means everything to me,” said Kilpatrick.
