They’re hanging in there, Travis Head (12*) and Cameron Green (14*). Just.
Head has narrowly avoided chopping on while there’s just been a little running mix-up which could have led to dramas in the event of a direct hit from the field.
These are very difficult areas for Australia. The crowd seems lively and the home side are throwing down some serious heat.
    Australia 3-46, lead by 128
Just as we wonder about the Sheffield Shield run into the Ashes, the fixtures have dropped.
There will be four rounds before the first Test of the series in Perth, and interestingly New South Wales won’t play any games at Cricket Central – where Sam Konstas made his only first-class hundreds to date.

Boy oh boy. Steve Smith gone. Azarri Joseph has just ripped straight through him. Massive, massive moment. That’s inside edge, onto pads, then onto stumps.
Out for five runs off 13 balls.
Australia is 3-28, the lead is only 110 runs. The hosts are well and truly in this, somehow. They have this pink ball dancing, and the Aussies can’t handle it.

Usman Khawaja has Sam Konstas to thank. If it wasn’t for the teenager’s troubles, the heat would be on Khawaja even more.
Aside from a score of 47, it’s been a dreadful series for the 38-year-old. He’s made 117 runs at 19.5.
Yes, the pitches have been tricky to bat on, but Khawaja is a better player than that.
Australia’s opening pair for the opening Ashes Test looks as clear as mud. Two blokes completely out of form at completely different moments in their career.
Might be a bit of interest in the Sheffield Shield this season…
I think? At first glance that looked to have carried off his edge, from the bowling of Alzarri Joseph… and yes, that has gone through the hands of Greaves in the slips and away for four runs.
Next ball is more heat. A sizzling bouncer. Steve Smith is uncomfortable out there. But for that dropped catch by Greaves, he would be in the sheds right now. What a costly moment that could prove to be for the West Indies.
Australia is 2-24, leading by 106 runs.
Khawaja is settling in. He’s just pulled Shamar Joseph to the boundary, a wonderful stroke – that’s his second four of this innings so far, and it takes Australia’s lead back out to three figures. It’s 101.
And now… he’s gone. Ignore what I said. Not settling in. He’s out. Khawaja has just been knocked over by Joseph again. Out for 14.
Both of Australia’s openers have been removed already – inside the first six overs.
They’re 2-19, and the lead is 101 runs.
Stunned silence in the stands as Konstas perishes for a duck. His nightmare gets worse. Scores of 3, 5, 25, 0, 17 and 0 on this tour. A Test record now of 163 runs at 16.3.
Talk about a fall from grace after fireworks on Boxing Day.
Konstas looks completely bereft of confidence and tours don’t get much tougher.
Even if he makes runs in the Sheffield Shield, England will be licking their lips ahead of the Ashes.
A lot to process for a 19-year-old with a huge career ahead.
