The Cleveland Browns are in the midst of yet another quarterback battle with very little likelihood that the franchise quarterback is on the roster.
This lack of talent has made many fans yearn for Baker Mayfield, who just threw a career-high 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns, and had a passer rating of 106.8 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024. Mayfield recently appeared on Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce's podcast New Heightswhere he was asked about the Browns current quarterback situation.
"I plead the fifth," Mayfield said. "Not my problem anymore… "When I was healthy, I was starting to get pretty damn good there."
Despite Mayfield leading the Browns to their first playoff win since returning to the NFL in 1999, Cleveland traded him to the Carolina Panthers after signing Deshaun Watson to what was at the time the largest fully-guaranteed contract in NFL history after acquiring him from the Houston Texans. After a quick bounce around from the Panthers to the Los Angeles Rams to Tampa Bay, Mayfield has led the Buccaneers to consecutive NFC South titles and led them to a playoff win in 2023 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
