Peyton O’Hara makes solid contact in a Legion baseball game played at Veterans Field in Blue Earth on June 30, against St. James. O’Hara had two hits in BE/W’s most recent game against Mankato Loyola.
The Blue Earth/Winnebago American Legion baseball team got off to a good start when they went on the road to face Mankato Loyola on Monday, July 7.
BE/W took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Unfortunately, that would be their only run of the game. Meanwhile. Loyola scored three runs in the second inning and fours runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to defeat BE/W 11-1 in five innings.
BE/W scored their run when Noah Barnett led off the game with a single. Barnett moved to second base on a passed ball. Carter Rosenau then walked to put runners on first and second base.
A line-drive single to center field off the bat of Peyton O’Hara loaded the bases.
Following a fly out, Branson Hauskin’s single knocked in Barnett with BE/W’s lone run of the game.
BE/W managed to get six hits during the game with Barnett and O’Hara each having two. Hauskins and Rosenau each finished with one hit.
O’Hara started on the mound and took the loss after pitching three and two thirds innings and being charged with seven earned runs on seven hits. He walked three batters and struck out three.
Hayden Vereide recorded the final two outs of the game after giving up four earned runs on five hits.
