Jackson Blondin tees off at Riverside Town and Country Club in a golf meet held earlier in April. Blondin finished in seventh place at the Bucs’ most recent meet.
The Blue Earth Area boys and girls golf teams both participated in Big South Conference events on Monday, April 21.
The boys were one of seven schools playing in the BSC Gold Division event held at Adrian while the girls event was held at Windom.
Boys Results
The BEA boys tied for first place with Windom Area at the BSC Gold Division Meet which was a nine-hole event played at the Adrian Country Club.
The Bucs and the Eagles each had 18-over-par scores of 162. In third place was Luverne with 165 while Redwood Valley finished fourth with 174. Fairmont and Jackson County Central tied for fifth with 180 and Pipestone Area was seventh with 186.
The medalist for the meet was Will Bergman of Luverne who shot a two-over-par score of 38.
BEA’s Eli Blagg finished in a five-way tie for second place, just one stroke behind the leader.
Blagg played a consistent round with six pars to finish with a three-over-par score of 39.
Jackson Blondin contributed a four-over-par score of 40 to finish in a two-way tie for seventh place. Blondin’s round consisted of one birdie and four pars.
Hunter Viland carded a five-over-par score of 41 which put him in a five-way tie for ninth place. Viland finished the day with five pars.
Cole Becker contributed the last score to BEA’s total with a six-over-par score of 42. Becker finished in a two-way tie for 14th place. He parred four holes during his round of golf.
Also golfing for the Bucs were Manny Granillo and Cole Beyer.
Granillo finished in a three-way tie for 16th place with a 43. His seven-over-par round included four pars. Beyer was one of four golfers to tie for 34th place with a 51. He had one par on the day.
Girls Results
The BSC Gold Division Meet for the girls was held at the Windom Country Club and featured the same seven teams as the boys meet.
The Buccaneer girls captured first place with a nine-stroke victory over second-place Fairmont. BEA finished with a score of 192 while Fairmont tallied 201. Luverne was third with 224, Jackson County Central was fourth with 227 and Redwood Valley took fifth with 228. Pipestone Area and Windom Area were unable to field complete teams.
The Bucs’ Katelyn Storbeck claimed medalist honors with a five-over-par score of 41 to edge Ada Lund of Windom by four strokes. Storbeck finished her nine-hole round of golf with four pars.
Finishing in a three-way tie for third place was BEA’s Lola Lundquist. Lundquist’s round of 48 included one par.
Finishing eighth and ninth respectively were the Bucs’ Madison Ehrich and McKinley Hanson.
Ehrich carded a 51 with one par. Hanson was just one stroke behind her Buccaneer teammate with a 52.
Hanson also finished the day with one par.
Reese Olson and Averi Blair also competed for BEA. Olson finished in a three-way tie for 26th place with a 65 while Blair shot a 69 to finish in 32nd place.

Boys Results
The host Eagles won the team portion of the golf meet with a team score of 155, which was four strokes ahead of second-place St. Peter’s 159. BEA finished in third place with 170, LeSueur-Henderson was fourth with 174, New Ulm team No. 2 was fifth with 175, Tri-City United finished sixth with 179 and Fairmont was seventh with 190.
The medalist was Brayden Wendinger of New Ulm who shot an even-par 36.
BEA’s top finisher was Eli Blagg with a four-over-par score of 40 which put him in a tie with three other golfers for fourth place. Blagg’s round included six pars.
Jackson Blondin’s six-over-par 42 put him in 13th place. The BEA senior had one birdie and two pars during his nine holes of golf.
Manny Granillo and Cole Becker tied for 18th place with scores of 44. Granillo and Becker each recorded one birdie and four pars for the day.
Hunter Viland carded a 53 with two pars and Cole Beyer finished the day with a 56.
Girls Results
It was a tightly contested meet for the six girls teams competing in the New Ulm Invitational with only four strokes separating the top three teams.
In the end, the Giants of Le Sueur-Henderson held on to win with a team score of 197. Runner-up Fairmont was three strokes behind with 200 while Blue Earth Area finished in third place with 201. St. Peter placed fourth with 229, Tri-City United was fifth with 242 and New Ulm was sixth with 245.
The Bucs’ Katelyn Storbeck was the medalist with an 11-over-par score of 46. She had one par during her nine holes of golf.
Madison Ehrich had a strong showing to finish in a two-way tie for third place. Her score of 48 was 13 shots-over-par and included two pars.
Lola Lundquist recorded a 53 to finish in 11th place. She parred one hole.
Averi Blair finished in 12th place with a round of 54 to complete the team scoring for the Bucs.
Also competing for BEA were Reese Olson, who finished tied for 13th with a 55, and Hailey Hanson, who tied for 19th place with a round of 58.
