Q2 0:58 – Bengals 9, Ravens 7
Burrow connects with Tinsley over the middle for a gain of 14, moving the ball to near midfield. The Bengals call their second timeout.
Q2 1:35 – Bengals 9, Ravens 7
Ossai gets to Jackson for a big sack on third down and, instead of the touchdown they thought they had a moment ago, the Ravens are punting.
1:35 left for the Bengals to put together a drive before halftime.
Q2 1:54 – Bengals 9, Ravens 7
Jackson hits Flowers for a beautiful 36-yard touchdown but the score is negated by an offensive pass interference penalty. Replays show Flowers pushed off enough to warrant the flag. The crowd in Baltimore is livid.
Q2 2:00 – Bengals 9, Ravens 7
We reach the two-minute warning with the Ravens driving after Jackson finds Likely for a 30-yard pickup. A bit of redemption for the tight end after his fumble out of the end zone on the last possession.
The Ravens have seen this far too often from Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase. In two games last year, Chase had 21 catches for 457 yards and five touchdowns. With under three minutes left in the second quarter, Chase already has four catches for 80 yards. Nate Wiggins did deny Chase a potential touchdown on third-and-goal from the 6, but Evan McPherson's short field goal gave the Bengals a 9-7 lead.
Q2 2:36 – Bengals 9, Ravens 7
A pair of incompletions and a short run by Perine and the Bengals are facing fourth-and-goal from the 6-yard line. They opt for another field goal and this one gives them the lead.
Q2 4:00 – Ravens 7, Bengals 6
Vintage Burrow-Chase stuff as the quarterback connects with the wide receiver for a 15-yard gain on third-and-10 with a timing pass to the right sideline. First-and-goal for the Bengals.
Q2 5:30 – Ravens 7, Bengals 6
The Bengals' drive begins with an offensive holding penalty but they quickly move the chains after completions to Brown and Gesicki. Burrow then hits Chase for a 43-yard gain down the right side and Cincinnati is knocking on the door of the red zone.
The Bengals defense had forced two fumbles and recovered one all season entering tonight.
They have forced two, recovered one and got a touchback on another tonight.
That's two turnovers for the Ravens in the first half tonight. During their five-game winning streak, they had only three total turnovers.
Q2 8:22 – Ravens 7, Bengals 6
Jackson finds Likely steaming across the center of the field for a big gain. The tight end hurdles a defender and is about to score when Battle strips the ball from him! The ball rolls out of the end zone, so it's a turnover! The Bengals take over at their 20.
Q2 9:45 – Ravens 7, Bengals 6
Jackson really shows off his scrambling skills for the first time tonight, picking up six yards on third-and-4 to keep the Ravens' drive alive. On the next play he throws deep for Walker, whose defensive back has fallen down, but the ball flies straight through the receiver's hands.
The Ravens have bogged down offensively over the past two drives with Lamar Jackson losing a fumble deep in Baltimore territory on the first one and Jackson missing an open Zay Flowers on third down on the second one. However, they're presenting a new look with rookie third-round pick Emery Jones Jr. in the game at left guard in place of Andrew Vorhees. Jones, who played his college ball at LSU, started the season on the non-football injury list after he had shoulder surgery following the NFL Scouting Combine. These are his first NFL snaps and he's doing it at guard, when his natural position is right tackle. It shows how concerned the Ravens are about their guard play, which has been poor for much of the season.
Q2 11:24 – Ravens 7, Bengals 6
Burrow has Tinsley open down the right sideline for a potential touchdown on second down but the receiver slows down momentarily and the pass falls incomplete. Unable to convert on third-and-10, the Bengals settle for a field goal and McPherson hits from 42 yards out.
Q2 13:00 – Ravens 7, Bengals 3
Facing a fourth-and-1 at the Ravens' 32, the Bengals opt to go for it instead of trying a 50-yard field goal. Burrow may have just returned from a toe injury but he does a QB sneak and picks up the first down.
Q2 14:45 – Ravens 7, Bengals 3
There's the Burrow we remember. He makes a beautiful throw on the move to connect with Chase for 13 yards on third-and-11, moving the chains.
Joe Burrow is 3-of-9 for 21 yards out of the shotgun as the first quarter comes to an end. The schemed throws have been the only real hits in the passing game thus far. His prowess in the red zone is also not up to his standard after the Bengals defense set him up at the 2-yard line. He was unable to convert on three throws where he's normally among the best in the NFL.
End 1st – Ravens 7, Bengals 3
The first quarter comes to a close with the Bengals facing third-and-11 after a false start penalty backs them up.
Q1 1:33 – Ravens 7, Bengals 3
Jackson misses a wide open Flowers on third down and the Ravens are forced to punt from the back of their end zone. Stout gets off a good one, though, and the Bengals will start their drive at their 47-yard line.
