Best of the Best: 2025 All-Valley Boys Basketball Team – heraldextra.com

Here are the top boys basketball players in the Utah Valley area in 2024-25:
Reynoso elevated his game as the season progressed, becoming the most dangerous Lion weapon offensively (12.1 points per game, 29 made 3-pointers) while also cleaning up the boards (5.8 rebounds per game) and getting others involved (2.5 assists per game). His combination of athleticism, work ethic and playmaking ability was vital for Payson as the Lions overcame deficits and eventually won the school’s first basketball title.
Allen averaged 7.7 points per game as a sophomore but leveled up this season as one of the most dangerous scorer in the state. He averaged 20.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game while making 44 3-pointers. He scored 34 points against Timpanogos and a season-high 40 vs. Uintah just a week later. Allen had 38 in a win against Mountain View to end the regular season and totaled 30 in a playoff loss to Timpanogos.
Burgess’ presence in the paint was a big reason why the Tigers were one of the top defenses in the state. The 6-foot-9 post, who has signed with BYU, notched 89 blocks (3.6 per game) and added 23 steals for a team that allowed just 49.5 points per game this season, 44 points per game in Region 7 play.
Mitchell has been the head man in Payson since the 2016-17 season and the Lions won just seven games last year. But Mitchell’s group gained momentum and won eight straight games to end the season, including an impressive four-game run in the 4A state tournament to win the school’s first-ever boys basketball title.
