An ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 Match Between Oman and Namibia was reduced to a 43-over affair due to "unforeseen logistical circumstances." According to a report, the match was due to be held at the Al-Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman could not start on time as "marathon/Ironman road race in Muscat resulted in significant road closures," reporter Peter Della Penna claimed.
This was the route that both Namibia and the Oman team were due to take to arrive at the ground, but they could not get there on time due to this delay.
After the delay, Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and put USA in. Fifties from Andries Gous (76), Monank Patel (65) and Milind Kumar (54) ensured that USA put on a formidable 293/8. In reply, the Namibians never got going and lost wickets at regular intervals to get bundled out for just 179, with Milind doing the damage with a four-wicket haul.
The USA are now top of the League 2 table with 18 points from 13 matches, while Namibia are sixth in the eight-team competition with 10 points from 13 matches.
The teams that finish in the top four will automatically qualify for the 2027 World Cup Qualifiers.
